Mesh Striped Cropped Top + Black Jeans

Ok, let's start chatting about some spring trends that I'm looking forward to. First up, sheer. Ok, so mesh is kind of sheer and this striped top is the best way to do it without being too revealing. I threw a bralette underneath and felt sufficiently covered. For pairings, I'm starting off my favorite black kick flares, a Moto jacket and a tiny pop of color in the form of this mini red bag that I scored a Saver's last month.

How To Mix and Match Winter + Spring Styles

Ok, we're not quite there on the spring weather and we're also not in need of full on winter ensembles. Making now the perfect time to start introducing spring pieces and layering them with the staples we've been wearing all winter long. We'll call it a jazz up your winter pieces one last time kind of deal. This week, Jackie and I sharing how to muscle through those last couple of weeks of winter weather while wearing some of our new spring favorites.

For me, it's all about a asymmetrical midi skirt with pops of color and stripes. I layered up with a chunky oversized sweater and heels with socks.

Jackie let her tulle polka dot dress make the statement layered under her mom's vintage coat.

Head over and see more of Jackie's look...

Banana Republic Bell-Sleeve Coat

This post is sponsored by Banana Republic. All opinions are my own.

If you were following along during fashion week you might have already seen this amazing coat in action. I mean, those sleeves and that color! *swoon* Truth: It's been hard for me to take off, so I'm hoping this spring weather shows up sooner than later so I can wear it without bundling under my coat of the moment. It might just be my favorite Banana Republic find of the season, but who am I kidding? They never disappoint, and I'm sure I'll have a new favorite piece within the month...

Until then, this blue bell-sleeved number is top of the ranks for it's hue, silhouette and fit. It fits like a glove, I got the size small and still have room to pile on the layers if needed. For this particular outfit I wore my bell-sleeved top layered under and the sleeves were a perfect match. It also fit my oversized grey sweater without getting too bulky so you can layer as little and as much (within reason) with this particular fit and style.

The jacket itself, though fully lined, isn't terribly heavy, making it a great spring option and the perfect pairing with denim. I mean, these pieces all together are giving me all sorts of life. They were perfect for wrapping up the very last fashion week events, hence the overload of 70's hair and makeup.

Final note: it's also on sale! I would grab it while you can- everyone needs a bold jacket to walk into spring.

Overalls + Off The Shoulder

Ok, we're not quite feeling spring weather at the moment but a couple of weeks back was a totally different story. Let's go back to that. So instead of refusing to get off the couch and get dressed for this blizzard situation outside I'm throwing it back to warmer days where it wasn't completely impractical to walk outside with bare ankles and shoulders...

That being said, yes, should absolutely wear your overalls into spring. Swap about boots for heels, sneakers and sandals with light layers and we're ready to go..

7+ Tips for Buying Baby's First Pair of Shoes

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Surprize by Stride Rite for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

For us, baby's first pair of shoes is kind of a big deal. Sure, you get a handful of different styles gifted  from friends and family but the actual first pair of 'walking' shoes are a rite of passage. At least in our house.

We've been a Stride Rite family since our oldest got his first pair of shoes when he was 10 months old. He was already walking a month and needed shoes to take over for his barefoot adventures. My mother-in-law insisted Stride Rite was the place to go, so we went in and got him his first pair of shoes. I remember them being brown leather with two velcro straps. He wore those babies until they couldn't be worn any longer.

Nine years later as baby #3 prepares to take his first steps we thought it might be smart to get ahead of the game and get him his first pair of shoes. Enter Surprize by Stride Rite. Only at Target. They're the same flexible outsoles and durability we know and love but in a store that we frequent on a weekly basis and for about half the price.

Surprize by Stride Rite still has the rounded toes to improve traction, as well as traction pods to reduce falls and tumbles. They're super flexible, have a memory foam footbed and an anti-stink lining. The closures are perfectly simple for easy on/off. Oh, and they're adorable, so there's also that.

Stylish + Practical is a must.

With Indiana likely being days away from taking those first steps we headed to Target to shop his first walkers. Surprize is available in-store in the Infant department OR online. We wanted to get the perfect fit so we did it in-store. I handed him a couple of the boxes in his size and 'let' him choose his favorite pair. We ended up with the the "Arther" style in navy ($25)

We popped onto the front steps and put the shoes on for the first time. Check out THAT face.

I think it's safe to say he LOVES them.

10 months and ready to run...

Tips For Shopping Baby's First Shoes

+ You want them to be flexible, allowing for movement.

+ Light-weight and breathable material

+ Easy On/Off (but secure). Velcro is great but don't be surprised when baby quickly learns how to take his shoes on and off..

+ Non-skid (rubber) soles

+ Check The Fit - you want just enough wiggle room to fit your pinky between the heel of the shoe and his heel. Since their feet grow so quickly, I'd recommend checking the fit every month.

+ Keep it simple. Avoid over the top "decorations" that can be pulled off and put in baby's mouth.

5 Festival Finds under $110

This post is sponsored by
I can't believe it, Spring is just a few days away and I'll tell you right now I'm more than ready to step into the sunshine with less layers and a new attitude. Of course our new season kicks off the start of festival season. Hooray! Who's going to Coachella, Panorama, and/or Gov Ball?

As of now, I'm not slated to make a statement at the listed above but I will say I'm going to Tulum in April so we'll count that as my very own festival on the beach...

So, with sunshine and festivals in mind, I'm teaming up with Babbleboxx to share some of my favorite festival finds. Let's check out what you need in your suitcase when heading to the desert, city and/or beach for your favorite festivals.

1. Statement Glasses
sunglasses, festival fashion, eyeglasses online
These Zenni shades pack some serious swagger, I love the retro white frames that came in my box. These are the perfect shades for pairing with your festival fashion. I'd love to see them with sundresses, off the shoulder cropped tops & denim. Not loving my particular pair? Zenni has TONS of styles starting at $6.95, including eyeglasses online. Check them out

2. Skincare
pressed serum, solid serum, algenist power
After hours in the sun your skin is going to need some serious TLC. Aside from a ton of SPF, your makeup bag better be carrying a good serum. I highly suggest Algenist Power Nighttime Pressed Serum, $95 (available at Ulta). It's a solid serum that melts into the skin to recharged fatigued skin. It goes on smooth, has a subtle cocoa butter scent. Added perk, it's considered a solid when traveling.

3. Fabulous Footwear
Women's shoes comfortable shoes spring shoes
Of course you need some fabulous footwear to pair with your accessories, skincare and outfit. The key is not sacrificing comfort for style. These amazingly comfortable shoes from Earth Shoes are bound to make a statement wherever you are. I love the cushion-y Ibiza mule's perforated detailing with the bold coral hue, it's great with cropped flares, overalls and even dresses. One of my favorite things about the brand is that they plant a tree with every purchase (in partnership with // Earth Shoes Ibiza, $110

4. Festive Undergarments
Bikini underwear Women’s Underwear Women’s Panty Cotton Bralette
Undergarments that double as street wear? Yes, please. I love the 80's throwback with this Jockey set. I may or may not be dying to wear this cotton bralette with baggy overalls as a nod to my 90's childhood. I know I won't be the only one because this trend is on fire right now. I personally love the  no-dig band on both the top and the bottoms (no muffin tops here!).

5. Excellent Hair Game
Truth: Hair is half the game when it comes to festival season so you better be on top of it. This Keratin Straightener from LumaBella is here to help with Instant (30-second) Heat, 1" ceramic plates and Keratin Micro-Conditioners. I'm envisioning lots of braids and floral crowns in your future. // LumaBella Keratin Duel Touch Styler, $89
