Target Beauty: All About Brows

This post is sponsored by Target.
Brows: You may not think about it, but I’d have to say they’re one of the most important features on your face, aside from your smile. They literally have the ability to make or break a look. I’ll be the first to admit that it’s new territory for me, and that just this past year I started making an effort to get more serious with their inclusion in my makeup routine. Now I can’t imagine being confined to just grooming. So, for this month’s Target beauty post, Pixi by Petra sent over a box full of goodies with brows in mind. I put together two fall-ready looks: one for day and one for nightboth with emphasis on brows and lips. I almost favor the day look because of the simplicity and how it still managed to pop with nearly no other makeup. Which is your favorite?

For day:
First, I prepped my face with a tinted moisturizer and lightly gave my skin a once-over with Pixi’s Color Correcting Powder Foundation in No. 1.

Next, the brows. I am OBSESSED with the Pixi Natural Brow Duo (in natural brown). There’s a pencil on one end and gel with brush on the other. I first drew in some of my light spots with the pencil and finished with the gel for a fuller effect. To highlight the brow and lids, I reached for the Pixi Brow Palette in Shades of Brows using the lightest shade. Finishing the look with a coat of Pixi Large Lash Mascara and Pixi Mattelustre Lipstick in Petal Pink.

For night:
I decided to build on my day look because, really, who has time to wash everything off and start over again? So I added a little more depth to my brows with the Pixi Endless Brow Gel Pen in light. I added another coat of mascara and light layer of Pixi Correction Concealer in Brightening Peach before adding some color to my life. I gave my Endless Brow Gel Pen double duty by giving my eyes a quick line. Next, I added a light dotting of Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel in Rosy to my apples and a swipe of Pixi Mattelustre Lipstick in Raspberry Blush before finishing with Pixi’s new Makeup Fixing Mist for maximum staying power.

Black and Denim

I think I've gotten a good chunk of wear out of this denim jumper. From a few stylings this summer all the way until now with long sleeves and over the knee boots. I'm kind of obsessed with the retro vibes coming from this particular pairing, don't be too surprised when you see me wearing this on repeat this fall. xo.

Walgreens Beauty: Smokey Metallic Eyes

Fashion Week is about taking risks in style, accessories, makeup and even hair. Some risks, though, are hard to take. Example: I can’t quit my kitten-lined eyes for the life of me. So to help me take the leap, I drew inspiration from some of the shows for Spring 2016 that skipped the liner and gave shadow a stage of its own. While blue was a huge color in the beauty department for Spring 2016, I’m not entirely ready to go that route with fall just around the corner. However I did grab inspiration from the layering of shadows and blending two colors together. I opted for two of my favorite metallics together using some of my favorites from the Walgreens beauty department for a more Fall-ready look that can be worn from day to night and added on to if need {ie: If I can’t go another second without my liner}.

Get The Look:
After giving my face a light once-over with cream foundation and a touch of concealer, I gave my cheeks and temples some color with No7 Perfectly Bronzed Mosaic Bronzer. I didn’t want it to be too bronzed so I kept things light to avoid clashing with my eye makeup.

Next, the first layer of eye shimmer from Color Prevails in Metallic Steel. I applied and blended from the corner of my eye to the crease, keeping it subtle. Then, I took the Circa Color Saturated Eye Crayon in Pure Topaz and filled in the rest of the eye, blending the two.

Completing the look with No7 Lash Impact Intense Volume Control Mascara in Black and a light layer of Circa Lustrous Lip Polish in Chiffon Glow.

Burlington Style: 70's Inspired

It's no secret that I'm a girl about 70's inspired fashions. It may or may not have stemmed from my love of mom's macrame and bohemian pieces when I was a kid, or when the retro scene was at it again in the 90's {I thought I was styling in my daisy print dresses and overalls in 5th grade}. So, when I saw this month's Burlington Style Squad theme was all about the 70's, I could not wait to get started. This month, I actually put together two looks for about $75.

So far the faux suede tan dress {$15} is a closet favorite. I've already worn it a half a dozen times in varying styles, this one by far being my favorite. Tip: Don't be afraid to layer your pieces. This tank dress looks even better layered over a turtleneck for a more retro vibe.

Of course, no bohemian outfit post is complete without a little fringe, so this vest paired with this awesome dress {$50} was an easy fit with my favorite boots. I'd have to say it's another successful shopping month at Burlington.

Wine, Denim and Camel

Hooray, it's officially boots season. I don't know about you but I look forward to this time of year pretty much all year. Even when I'm over winter and wishing for spring. Which give me a couple of months and I'll be right there like I always am. Anyhow, these boots are a new and colorful addition to my almost completely neutral boot collection - I'm kind of obsessed with how perfect they pair with the denim shirt and camel skirt. Hello, new closet staples. For those of you who wish to stay in the neutral zone they also come in black...

The Waterfall Skirt

So, I've actually had this skirt in my closet since July and have been waiting for a special occasion to wear it for the last few months. Ie: Fashion Week. Yes, I shop and save - I know I'm not the only one who's guilty. Anyhow, it was perfect for Fashion Week. I ended up wearing it with a cropped top and leather jacket (and socks) for the last day. But, since I'm a repeat offender in the cropped top department I figured I'd switch things up a little bit and throw in a t-shirt. I actually love it more this way. As for the skirt, it's simply amazing. It's a little on the sheer side, but for me that's what makes it so perfect, that and it currently being on sale for under $45.

Pinnacle® Chocolate Sundae Milkshake

This post is sponsored by Pinnacle®

I’m a gal with a major sweet tooth. For me, chocolate is the word. I almost always have something hiding in my freezer, cabinet or desk waiting for the craving to kick in. So for this month’s Pinnacle® recipe, they asked me to create something with some of my favorite everyday essentials in mind, so I thought long and hard and decided chocolate ice cream was my best bet. Who doesn’t love ice cream? Next, I wanted to mix it up. Sure, we do ice cream in the house {often} but we rarely do anything else with it, i.e. sundaes and milkshakes. So, a Chocolate Sundae Milkshake it was. Which could not have come at a more perfect time with all the birthdays this month; who needs cake when you have this?

Anyhow, it’s amazing. It’s rich, chocolatey and hits the spot with a kick. I have to ask myself why didn’t I think of this sooner. Just whip this up and settle yourself in front of the TV and voila! Saturday night essentials.

Spiked Chocolate Sundae Milkshake
What you need {Serves 2}:

2 Oz Pinnacle® Whipped Vodka
4 Scoops Chocolate Ice Cream, slightly softened
3/4 Cup Milk
1-2 Tbsp. Whipped Cream

Optional {but awesome toppings}:
Whipped Cream
Maraschino Cherries
Chocolate Syrup

Combine Ice Cream, Milk, Pinnacle® Whipped Vodka and 2 Tbsp. Whipped Cream in blender or milkshake machine. Mix until smooth.

Pour into chocolate drizzled cup, add whipped cream and sprinkles. Finish with cherry. Grab a straw and enjoy!

Fall Ready: Black and White

I don't know about you but I am more than ready for fall. I'm not talking about pumpkin spice and boots, though I am a girl about {real} pumpkin and a fab boot. I'm talking loads of layers, breezy afternoons watching the very last leaves fall from the trees with a hot cup of chai or hot cocoa before the snowy season. I'm personally kicking things off with a slightly retro, fun take on black in white in pieces I adore, from my closet. Obviously, it's not the first or last time you'll be seeing these this coming season...
