All About Black

I don't know what it is about an all black look, but for me it's the most relaxing of styles. Layers of cozy separates in a monochromatic casual yet stylish ensemble ideal for all day wear of schlepping around or meeting up with girlfriends for a hot cup of cocoa. Simple with a dash of sophistication.

Rock Your Hair Review

I've never really been a big hair product kind of gal, let's be real up until recently I didn't use any kind of heat or styling tool at home. But since I've been trying new things with this mane of mine over the last several months I got kind of excited about going 'big' with these new Rock Your Hair products by Michael O'Rourke. I don't know if it's the southern girl within (or some old school Carrie Bradshaw love) but I'm serious about volume when it comes to my messy waves, it just works. So when these three found themselves on my doorstep I couldn't resist diving in and trying them out...

Here's what I thought.
Bombshell Big Hair Powder, $17
Just a little tap on your roots to spring up the volume. I was personally a fan because it also helped stretch my dirty hair another day, and it's not too cakey like other similar products.
Spray It Hard Big Volume Hairspray, $22
I spritzed this in my braids after getting out of the shower to help set my waves, and found that it worked pretty well and didn't get too hard or sticky, after taking them out the waves were a lot fuller. I also added a tiny bit to my bangs after spending what seems like forever blow drying them, they stayed put and didn't curl up for a good 24hrs.
Leave In Conditioner Weightless Detangler, $20
I don't know what it is about my hair but it tangles like crazy, it doesn't matter how long it is but it mats up and tangles immediately, which is probably why I sometimes don't bother with it and throw it in a top knot. I've been spraying this in after showers before combing/brushing and it's made my process somewhat easier.

Overall, I'll probably be adding a couple of these to my closet for future use and would recommend them if you're into more volume when it comes to your hair. And in case you need more incentive to buy this month, they're giving 10% of online sales to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Research.

*disclosure: these products were sent to me for consideration, I chose to review them and all opinions are 100% my own. I was not compensated for this post.

Denim and Red

Since I've started to layer up for colder days I've been playing around with new (to me) ways to add to my favorite not so fall pieces. First up, layering a little chambray under my favorite red and black find from Marshall's. Thus, making it a little more casual and appropriate for my surroundings, because let's be real my outfit choices here aren't entirely practical (and may or may not be receiving strange looks from the natives - lol!).

Are you a fan of layering under your favorite pieces?

This Week...

Aside from the leaves falling like crazy and the temperatures dropping to practically freezing I was lucky enough to indulge in a few goodies that made themselves my way. First up, I'm getting Paris ready, by touching up on some french, the fun way with Parisienne French. My husband and I have been staying up late reading and reciting phrases from the book the newly released book. It's a must have for anyone who is heading to Paris, or in my case, wishes they were...
And I finally got the slip into these beauties, and boy are they comfortable.
I also added a couple fall essentials from Debshops to my closet...
And got casual for a little hike with the boys.
Happy Weekend.

Love Of Layers

Fall has always been my favorite season. I love the colors, the crisp weather complete with pumpkin spice (and my new favorite, caramel) everything, and the ability to just pile layer upon layer to complete a look, er, stay warm. Though, I will shamelessly admit I layer during the 90 degree summers in FL, it's completely impractical I know, but I love every sweating minute of it. For me it just feels more put together, and I can never resist fun knits from head to toe. Lucky for me I'm spending this season in actual fall weather so I got to bundle up for my final T.J.Maxx challenge, which is in case you haven't guessed, is all about layering. You can find the first three here, here and here in case you missed out the first time around.

Now, before I go any further I have to say I spent more waking time in T.J.Maxx stores over the last month than I ever have before, and it was worth it. I stalked handbags (people, we're talking major designers at a great price), beauty finds and of course all of my newest high end fall wardrobe additions, weekly. Ok, don't judge it was more like daily.

As for this look, I decided to go for a classic prep with a grey blazer and simple skater skirt and edge it up slightly with print mixing, a knit hat and a bold lip. Perfectly dressed down for even the coziest of occasions.

Shorts and Sweaters

Since I'm still holding on to my very last few days of being bare legged here, I thought the best way to count that down would be to play with the newest 'leather' addition to my closet, from Lulu's. I layered the playful shorts with this cozy knit sweater with a touch of blue and a pair of booties for a afternoon out with the guys.

Best Booties For Fall Under $80

I feel like I'm a bootie gal when it comes to fall footwear, they give you the style you want with just enough warmth (I live in Florida, fur lined boots just don't happen). Plus they're great for layering, hello playful leg wear. Add a few unique details or a killer heel and they're fall lineup standouts in my book, so of course the best way to share the love is to round up some of my favorite (budget friendly, of course) booties for Fall! I hope you love them as much as I do...
Report's Ayden, $44.95
Sole Society's Helena, $79.95 (You know I love this one!)
Modernist Platform Bootie (also in Black), $39.80

Which are your favorites?

Savannah Bee Company Lipgloss Swatches

I'm not a huge gloss gal these days, mainly because my unruly mane loves to find it's way over and stick right onto my lips. It's not cute and I know a lot of you have had the same issue at one point or another. However, some of my favorite lipsticks aren't so hydrating during the cold weather months, leaving my lips on the dry side. So, around this time I switch it up a little bit with a hydrating gloss, and my newest addition to the beauty routine is the Savannah Bee Beeswax Lip Glosses. Made from real beeswax to keep your lips hydrated and softer, with colors to keep you on trend for fall, check them out below...

Mint Blossom, $14.50 for Two
A sheer, baby pink gloss with a mint scent and tingle. (Favorite)
 Wild Blackberry, $14.50 for Two
A Sheer, Deep Red
 Tupelo Honey, $14.50 for Two
A Richer Brown Hue

Black and Brown

Years ago I never would've have even considered black and brown as a reasonable pairing when putting together an outfit, but these days I don't even think twice. Since it was in the high 60's over the weekend I showed a smidgen of skin and still managed to stay warm with my trusty boots and hat.

Easy Cinnamon Apple Danish

Since Fall and Apples go hand in hand I thought it would be the perfect time for another easy apple recipe. And because everyone seems to love my Apple Pie Bites Recipe, it was clear to adapt the ingredients in another way for a new take on a simple breakfast or dessert.

Apple Cinnamon Danish
1 Tube Crescent Rolls (I used Immaculate Baking Co.)
1-2 Apples, Sliced Thin
2-3 Tbsp. Sugar
2 Tbsp. Cinnamon
Honey To Top (Optional)

Preheat Oven to 350˚

Roll out dough onto a greased cookie sheet, gently cut 1" diagonal slices on the edges.
Arrange apples, leaving room for folding.
Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture and gently fold pieces over.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Drizzle with honey and enjoy.

This Week..

Since I feel like I'm losing track of time up here, I almost forgot it was the weekend! There's something about this mountain 'living' that makes me want to sleep all day and watch the leaves fall. Luckily, I get to do so while laying in bed with my grandmother and talking about all of our memories and the boys.

I'm not the only one getting acclimated to being here, Todd (the Cat), is loving his time outdoors during the day. Nighttime is a different story, apparently he was spooked by a large wild animal a few nights back causing him to pee in my suitcase the following night. Lesson learned, by both parties involved.
I've become obsessed with these Hello (Products) toothpastes, especially the pink grapefruit mint, it's surprisingly refreshing.
Again, this combination is get a lot of play. I'm really loving this skirt.
Stay tuned tomorrow for a quick and easy apple recipe!
Happy Weekend.
