6 Ways To Bundle Up this Winter

Bundling up for winter doesn't always have to mean covering yourself from head to toe in layers. Often all you really need is a few essential pieces paired with something a little more 'fun' to keep you from fall into a winter style rut.  Since this week has been far warmer than last, I had to take advantage of the beautiful {40-something degree} weather and take a break from all pants all the time. Thus, making this week's #styled6ways with the girls a little more whimsical with a flowing skirt and this absurdly cozy cashmere sweater that Garnet Hill was kind enough to send over. I'm kind of obsessed, at least with the sweater.

Navy and Plaid

After spending an extra 5 days in Florida this past week thanks to the massive storm that hit the north east over the weekend, I figured it was about time to get my act together and {snap off some pictures of some of my "currently wearing on repeat looks' that haven't made it up on the blog yet. I actually meant to take pictures of this particular look before I left for Florida but for some reason it never happened, thus the radio silence over the last several days - Oops. Thankfully now I'm back, and the weather is kind of amazing, minus the size-able amount of snow on the streets and sidewalks. This navy window pane coat is pretty much the ideal outerwear for this 40-something degree weather. I'm especially obsessed with the oversized plaid scarf pairing with the addition of the hair tuck, boots and black denim. I've at least worn it 5x this month with no repeat regrets.

The Retro Coat

To keep up with my love affair with all things retro it was only a matter of time before I found the perfect coat to keep me warm this winter. Who can say no to a little shearling with a fantastic print to spice up the 20 degree weather. I can't decide if I love the coat or this adorable bag that I scored at Marshalls last week, more.

Winter Essential: The Oversized Poncho

When it comes to winter essentials they tend to rack up pretty fast -  there's the sweater dress, the statement coat, the leather jacket, jeans, boots and whatever else we can think up while shopping for the season. It's pretty much all an 'essential' or at least that's what we tell ourselves to justify the purchase. But, for me it's all about the poncho. I LOVE a good poncho. You just layer it on over a long sleeve top or sweater, throw on a pair of jeans and boots and voila you're done. It's effortless, yet put together. This particular poncho was a pre-christmas score from H&M. My mom happened to pick it up for me when we were shopping and I wasn't entirely sure if I was going to love it. But, for $15 I couldn't say no. So, we brought it home and it's become a closet favorite - don't tell anyone but I even hid black yoga pants and a sweatshirt under it with these boots for a quick trip to the store and no one was the wiser. If you can do that and still look awesome, it's a win for the team - or closet. I've actually been wearing it non-stop with this grey and black oversized scarf. Guys, it's absurd how cozy it is - even with the freezing temps. Plus, I can't help but love how it looks.

6 Drugstore Beauty Buys To Try This Winter

I don't know about you but my skin is already 'feeling the burn' of winter. {Yuck.} Naturally it had to happen just as I ran out of my favorite moisturizer. Thankfully, CVS has me covered this month and sent over a box of some products that are just hitting shelves -  Just in time to give my skin a little kick start before the dry, flaky skin starts up. So, I narrowed down 6 of my favorites and am sharing them today. Just in case you're looking to expand your winter beauty horizons. Psst. They're all $20 and under...

La Roche-Posey Cicaplast Baume B5, $14.99 - Excellent on dry, irritated skin and it's paraben free.

Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturizer, $19.99 - Light-weight and goes on smooth.

Skin + Pharmacy Advanced Anti-Aging Therapy Glycolic Peel Pads, $19.99 - Beauty treatment in a box, obsessed.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel, $19.99 - I've been using this religiously since September, it's irreplaceable!

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water Cleanser, $8.99 - Forget the mess and the sink, 1 lightly saturated pad of this stuff cleans my face. Liner and Mascara included.

Biore Baking Soda Pore Cleanser, $7.99 - It was only a matter of time before someone took advantage of baking soda's excellent exfoliation skills - this is gentle enough for daily use and my skin feel great post shower.

Layering Up

Truth time. I actually wore this outfit once already last year with the addition of a stylish starbucks red cup. However,  I figured since I had a couple new {accessory} additions plus a different hair color than the first look that I could probably get away with posting it again, especially since I've been practically living in it during the weekends to run errands. Turns out you don't need a huge, puffy coat to keep you warm, just a whole lot of layers. And layers I can work with, the thought of having to wear the same coat for the entire season just makes me dread the idea of 20˚ weather and snow. Thankfully these piled up pieces pretty much do the trick and I can switch it up without completely falling into a style rut or racking up an unhealthy amount of coats in my closet.

6 Ways To Wear Denim this Winter

For me, denim is an essential when it comes to winter dressing. It's easily layered, warm and is almost always in style regardless of what you wear it with. Or at least I think so. Which is why this week's #styled6ways  had to be all about winter dressing with denim. Perhaps it will spike some inspiration for those cold weather days where you want nothing to do with getting dressed for the weather. (Me all week.)
