3 Easy Spring Beauty Essentials for Spring

When It comes to my Spring and Summer Beauty Rituals, I often feel like less is more, mainly because I'm in one of the most humid climates and I hate feeling like my makeup is melting off my face. While I don't do too much when seasons change I often find myself opting for putting my hair up, and milk maid braids (tutorial here) are always a fun and let me give my topknot a break. Ps - Braids are going to be big this season so start practicing!
As far as makeup, I'm all about adding a little color to my otherwise porcelain skin, and a little bronzer to contour and define my high cheek bones always make me feel done, with or without my staple cat lined eyes.
Now we know I love a bold lip but when it comes to Spring I'm often a fan of going brighter, to me the brighter the better, right? The easiest way to kick it off is to go fuchsia!
Don't forget to stay moisturized throughout these warmer months, and if you're in the mood to add a little color to your moisturizing routine, opt for Jergen's Natural Glow Face with SPF!

The Orange Hat

Give me any reason to pair a floppy hat and a maxi and I'll take it, we all know it's no secret that I'm fond of the two of them, especially together. Lucky for me when I spotted the black version of this hat (which has been on my must have list) I spied that it was bogo so this one came right on home with me.  Two hats for $16, you can't lose, and since it matches my dress perfectly I feel like it was meant to be...floppy hat style

Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins

easy donut recipes
I love a hearty muffin, but at the same time I love to indulge in a donut every now and then, lately my weakness has been Whole Food's 'Vegan Donuts' but I've started to get smart and opt for making my own (here), this time I'm starting from scratch and treating myself to the best of both worlds. Muffins and Donuts as a whole, and oh my gosh, I had to stop myself from shoving more than I care to admit in my mouth - also, the kids are fans, big fans.

Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins
1/3 Cup Sugar
1/4 Vegetable Oil (Or Coconut Oil)
1/2 Tsp. Nutmeg
1/2 Cup Milk
1 Tsp. Baking Powder
1 Cup Flour

For The Topping
1/4 Cup Coconut Oil (Or Melted Butter)
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp. Cinnamon

Preheat Oven to 375˚

Combine (Baking) Sugar, Oil, Nutmeg in a bowl. Stir in Milk, Baking Powder and Flour until just combined.
Fill (Greased) Mini Muffin Tins until 1/2 Full, and Bake for 15 Minutes (or until golden brown).
Next, combine the reserved Sugar and Cinnamon in bowl for the topping and set aside with melted Coconut Oil.

Remove tins from oven and toss the muffins in the coconut oil, and then coat with cinnamon sugar mixture.

Mara Hoffman Fall 2013

Though Spring has only just arrived, for some reason Mara Hoffman's Fall 2013 Collection has been burning a hole in my mind and inspiring me with her vibrant colors paired with her eclectic bohemian styles and prints. I love that her collection perfectly emulated her gypsies, tramps and thieves inspiration for the upcoming season and I couldn't resist falling in love with her choice of strong details with unique, rich fabrics and colors. Whether it was the evil eye jacket or the floor grazing maxis, the collection was pure beauty, proving once again that this bohemian gal knows exactly what she's doing. And don't think for one minute that animal prints and neon is going anywhere for quite some time.

Keep an eye for these styles for Fall, I have a feeling they're going to be a hit on and off the runway...

A Tee and Sequins

sequins for day
Lately I've kind of been a gal about simple, just a few separates with a pop or two and I'm out the door..
For some reason these sequins just were itching to play with my other casual favorite, the tee. As for the yellow bag and leopard print, they just seemed to fall right into place...

DIY Jimmy Choo Anouk Degradé Inspired Pumps

DIY Ombre Jimmy Choos
I remember the first (and er, so far only) pair of Jimmy Choo's I ever bought, I was 21 and the Eliza just had to come home with me, I didn't even flinch when I handed the gal at Sak's my card, $600 and something dollars later I strutted out of the doors and rushed home to put them on. It was love, and since then I've always had a special fondness for all things Choo.

So, when I saw the Jimmy Choo Anouk Degradé Pump in Marie Claire a month or so ago I almost died, and knew that I could absolutely DIY them at home, and that my friends, I did. Turns out a 1/4 can of spray paint and a (old) pair of pumps later I succeeded with just as I set out to do.

Looks like my spring just got a little pre-Fall at a fraction of the $750 price tag.

Falling Perfectly Together

Over the weekend we got a cooler day that gave me a chance to layer up for the afternoon, there was just something about the floating sheer leopard and the toughness of the leather jacket that just made the whole look fall together in perfection.
