Great Way To Impress Your House Guests, Or Even Perfect for New Years!

This Week..

I don't know about you but this week has been nothing short of beautiful, we were lucky enough to spend the holidays with both sets of parents and then take off for an impromptu mini vacay to the mountains to celebrate my grandfather's birthday and relax a bit. And though the boys and myself have been sick the whole time it's still been amazing. Now, if only it would 'really' snow for the guys. Eh, they're having fun either way..
This cozy fireplace is heaven...
I finally got ahold of some EOS, and apparently so did Ev, hence the indentations...
Print mixing for those days just lounging around the fire and indulging in hot cocoa and teas...
Finally getting a chance to wear these babies! In love...

5 Ways To Wear A Wide Brim Hat

Earlier this week I got an email from one of my fabulous readers requesting a 5 WTW base around my Oxblood hat, She just picked it up on clearance and wanted a little insight on styling it. It just so happens that I've actually worn it a little over 5 times so it fit perfectly in the swing of things. Turns out, wide brim hats are a lot more versatile that I originally anticipated and this one in particular has become a favorite. So Shelly, Here's 5 Ways To Wear a Wide Brim Hat...

1. Casually Layered
Top off jeans and a tee, and you can't go wrong..
2. With Some Fringe
Play with some fringe and leather for a just a taste of 'hipster chic'..
3. With A Maxi
Want to feel a little more bohemian? Add a maxi, wavy hair and a little fringe...
4. With A Flirty Dress
Pair it with A Flirty Dress With Boots, for a more trendy appeal..
5. With Chambray
Grab that other neutral in your closet, Chambray, it goes with everything...

How would you wear it?

Add Some Fur

(Faux) Fur can take even the most simple look and give it texture and a dash of pop, especially when there's a little print to play with. Of course, vests of the fur-ish variety are just perfect for those winter days where  you just don't feel much like putting effort in while dressing. Fur + Leather + Statement shoes and you're done.

Casual Waves

When I need a casual go to look for those days spent at the Farmer's Market, Park or Grocery store, I always reach for this jacket and pair it with just about anything I can find in my closet.

Just Some Layers

Since it's just about Christmas the weather wised up and finally gave in, and cooled down, bringing a little bit more holiday cheer. There's just something about the cold that makes Christmas that much more special, right?

Mini Pecan Pies Recipe

Everyone loves desserts during the holidays, it's one of the main reasons most of us make resolutions to hit the gym in the new year. But when things are bite sized I just can't help but feel less guilty about indulging in my favorite goodies, and pecan pie is at the top of the yes please list. Last year, I came up with this interpretation sans the (gross) corn syrup, so I decided to take it and shrink it down to fun size. Let's just say they didn't last too long in our household and it packed just enough caramel, crust and crunch to satisfy my craving.

Mini Pecan Pie Recipe
 Yields About 3 Dozen

  • 1 C Light Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 C White Sugar
  • 1/2 C Butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Tbsp All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tbsp Milk
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1C Chopped Pecans
  • 2 Rolls Of Immaculate Baking Co. Pie Crust Or Two Pie Crusts

  • Preheat oven to 350˚ degrees F (175 degrees C)

  • Roll out the soften dough and cut out 3in circles...
  • and place in greased mini muffin tins..
  • In a large bowl, beat eggs until foamy, and stir in melted butter. Stir in the brown sugar, white sugar and the flour; mix well.

Last add the milk, vanilla and nuts.
 Pour in mini pie crusts...
And bake for 15 minutes (or until lightly browned) at 350˚. Remove from oven, let cool completely before removing from tins.
Try them alone, with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
They're not small, they're fun sized, so eat more ;).
