Build Your Own Toaster Pastry Bar

Oh hey spring, it's good to see you!

Now, we've seen a couple of outfit posts from Walmart.com, but I thought it might be time to share some other amazing options the 2-day shipping touches on. Specifically, Home & Food. I'll tell you right now I don't enjoy grocery shopping. Add city living to the mix and it's a whole other ballgame of walking to the store and carrying an arm load or two of bags home- usually with a kid or three in tow. I will say the option to buy groceries and then get them within two days is kind of a game changer, especially with pantry staples. They have just about everything you could need, and for the items that are perishable, they have free same-day pickup, which is excellent.

That being said, I wanted to celebrate spring with a fun, kid-friendly brunch for the boys. Something creative, but not over-the-top. After checking out some of the breakfast offerings, I was inspired to create a Build-Your-Own-Toaster-Pastry Bar. Fun, super easy to put together and an instant crowd pleaser.

After a decent amount of time scrolling options, I narrowed my picks to about 6 different toaster pastry flavors. I went with organic, but this is just my personal preference. You can choose any brand, type, or flavor of your choice. I will note that the unfrosted variety gives you more control over toppings and your own frosting.

Next, I stocked up on the toppings I could buy online like sprinkles and chocolate chips. Followed by serveware shopping! Is anyone else obsessed with buying home goods online? Anyhow, I also stocked up on ceramic bowls, cake stands and plates to bring the bar to life.

Like clockwork, everything arrived in two days and in perfect condition.

Now, to create the masterpieces.

Aside from the toaster pastries, I wanted to add some protein and savory items to the lineup. All of those carbs need some leveling out with heavier stuff, so I whipped up some mini egg frittatas and yogurt parfaits (recipes below).

For the bar, to go along with the toppings I ordered, I made a cream cheese frosting. I gave the option of spreading the frosting or using a piping bag. Both were a hit. Of course, fresh fruit toppings were a definite go but I kept it simple with sliced strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and kiwis.

Serve up your pastries with mocktails + fresh OJ.
