Fall Essential: The Leather Backpack

This season, bags are the ones making the statement. From structured mini bags to the currently reigning saddle bags they are adding an extra pop of style and utility to fall looks everywhere. One of my personal favorites this season has to be the leather backpack. Sure, roomy totes are great but switching it up every now and then doesn't hurt anyone. I was more than ready to try something new and this Vera Bradley Gallatin Big Sky Backpack was too perfect to pass up. By the way, Vera Bradley right now is on fire, their bags need to be checked out ASAP!

As for the backpack; the leather is flawless, it's spacious and is perfectly structured, to meet the needs of even the most picky fashion icon. I have a feeling it's going to be one of my favorites throughout the season, holding everything and anything in the spacious compartments, including my too big for my mini bag phone. Until the layers really start getting piled up I'm wearing it this Banana maxi shirt dress, belted and my favorite over the kneed suede boots from last year (thought sandals might have been a better choice for yesterday's weather pattern, oops!).  Either way the Gallatin pops, making it my fall bag essential pick.

Tobi Spell Bound Top

Up until this outfit I had been looking for fun, summery ways to wear this Tobi top without having to resort to my typical midi and heels pairing. So, when I was packing for my trip a couple weeks back I happened by chance to walk by the mirror with the top and the jeans on and immediately fell in love with the look. Naturally it found a way into my suitcase and was one of the first outfits I wore in North Carolina. We ended up heading over to Highlands for lunch, picture taking opportunities and of course, more ice cream. I felt perfectly content throwing the blue leather topper over for chillier moments in the afternoon.

Seriously though, how cute is this top? Don't forget all customers get 50% off their first order at Tobi, check them out.

Which was your favorite Tobi look - The wrap dress, the lace up maxi or this one?

Ruffle Bodysuit and Flares

Since North Carolina has been a balmy 70˚ this week I've been more than comfortable wearing denim pieces throughout the day. This particular pairing might be one of my favorites, mainly because of the bodysuit. It's amazing. I really have to ask myself why I was so resistant to trying these out because they are a GIFT, especially if you hate constantly tugging at your shirt untucking. Plus, it's surprisingly comfortable and easier to get off and on than I expected {Just a little shimmy and a shake}.

I opted for black and brown accessories in the form of the vintage silk scarf seen in a few of these pictures and the fossil saddle bag that is getting tons of wear lately. We spent the better half of the morning cruising this particular strip in Brevard before heading to Lowe's to pick up a mid-century, sputnik inspired light fixture to take home and install in our living room. Apparently they were one of the last remaining stores in the country that still had it so two birds, one stone.

Places to check out in Brevard, N.C - O.P Taylor Toy Store (one of my favorites since I was a kid), Rocky's Grill and Soda Shop (Authentic 1950's shop), and Looking Glass Falls (Waterfall).

    Hooray, it's practically autumn.

Well, at least it is in North Carolina. This week's vacation spot was the perfect place to break out the light layers, denim, and my personal favorite: booties. Hooray for booties! We all love booties right? They basically go with everything from dresses to denim and everything in between; making them an easy year-round staple. This season I'm teaming up with Zappos and Lucky Brand to share my bootie picks and how I'm currently wearing them. Mainly to get you in the mood for crisp fall days, cozy layers and the falling leaves.

Anywho, for my picks, I stepped out of my usual comfort zone on my first pair and decided to add a rich, oxblood hue to my collection. The super soft suede of the Belia bootie {in Beet Oil} paired with slight distressed texture and tiny heel, made it a perfect choice for floaty fall dresses and denim down the road. I'm thinking a camel moto jacket and slightly distressed boyfriend jeans with either a cozy t-shirt or loose turtleneck for Fall. Until then, this similarly hued bell-sleeved, printed dress fit the California free-spirited vibe of Lucky Brand's aesthetic, paired with a tasseled saddle bag and minimal accessories. Perfect for transitioning from summer to fall, or for laid-back mountain vacation style.

The second pair, of course, had to have some fringe because I'm obsessed with all things fringe at this point and moving into to Fall. Naturally, the Beeliner bootie {in Sesame Oildid not disappoint, mainly because I love the look of unzipped booties and these had just that. Since 70˚ weather was common this week so I felt more than comfortable breaking out my skinny jeans and pairing them with my off-the-shoulder dress worn as a tunic- with the fringe as the stand-out detail of the look. Simple, cozy, and perfect for wandering around and indulging in a massive scoop of brown batter ice cream at Kilwin's. For later, I'm dreaming of throwing these casually versatile booties on with overalls, distressed denim, and midi dresses for fall boho vibes.

Wear It Now & For Fall: Off The Shoulder Wine Dress

Since my sights are officially set on transitioning my wardrobe to fall I've ceased adding summery pieces to my closet and have started purchasing pieces that not only work for now, but also for the fall season. This dress for example, it's amazing with these sandals and even pair of sneakers. But, my true intention for adding it to my cart was to pair it with my over the knee cognac boots. I mean, these colors together, am I right? Aside from the dreamy wine hue, I love the faux button up detail and the tied bell sleeve - perfect for cooler autumn days. I hate to say it but I'm starting to look more and more forward to crisp fall days and the leaves falling...
