5 Hairstyles To Try This Summer

07 July 2015

Summer has no shortage of opportunities to play with fun hair styles. Sure, you have to beat the frizz and humidty but after that the sky's the limit. I know that I often find myself doing the same ol' thing and wearing my hair down and wavy. So, I've been taking that extra effort to try something new and step outside the typical center or side part box.

Here's 5 styles you have to try this summer!

1. Headscarf
There's actually several different ways to style a scarf in your hair but this one is my personal favorite. It's easy and doubles as a headband, and is perfect for those bad hair days. {How To:}

2. Loose Side Braid
You might remember this from last month's tutorial, this is probably one of the best solutions for growing out your bangs. {How To:}

3. Full Crown Braid
The side braid not enough braid for your mood? Try the full crown braid.

4. Side Bun + Hat
Who says hats are reserved for bad hair days. Style your hair around your hat - try a loose, low side bun tucked into your hair.

5. The Messy Top Knot
{Emphasis on messy!}

Summer Essential: The Flirty Romper

06 July 2015

For me, summer style has to be fresh, effortless, and able to follow me from lunch, drinks with friends or even a date. I want the ease of being able to switch accessories and create a whole new look without have to change completely. So, for this month's Burlington Style Squad™ challenge I searched the racks for the perfect summer to go piece to do just that.

Of course we already know that I have a special fondness for jumpsuits and rompers so it is no surprise that I was immediately drawn to this flirty romper when I spotted it on the racks last week. It's floaty, colorful and at first glance looks like a dress. Plus, they are one of this season's biggest trends and it was under $20, so there's that. Truth be told, I've been wearing it non stop but narrowed it down two these two pairings for my day to night picks.

Color isn't really a new thing here, so adding on a couple extra pops in the accessories department isn't entirely a big surprise with me, especially with this romper. However, in this case I really love the pink sandals and turquoise bag. Making it a perfect day look, hello lunch al fresco! Yes, I could probably get away with taking this look from day to night but I'm thinking a subtle change to black heels and bag with slight pop of color from the earrings is really where I want to take it when I'm heading to drinks or a date with my guy. Dressed up but still playful.
Final analysis. This romper turned out to be a major find at Burlington. Paired alongside a few other awesome finds which can be found in my haul video (below) I'd say it was a pretty successful month of shopping.

Off The Shoulders

02 July 2015

At first glance I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this shirt. Sure, it looked cute but you can never really know how it's going to look when it's no longer hiding behind the computer screen and sitting right in front of you. Thankfully, it turned out to look so much better in person, and feels heavenly. {I've been finding that off the shoulder tops have the tendency to feel a little too tight in the arm area at times, not the case here}. Elephants, black and white with a punch of flair - could it be anymore perfect? Oh wait, it's under $20.

TfDiaries x Hallmark Signature

01 July 2015

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by Hallmark through their partnership with POPSUGAR Select. While I was compensated to write a post about Hallmark Signature, all opinions are my own.
For me, summer is full of occasions that require special thought and gifts, be it graduations, weddings or birthdays. And every special gift needs a card to share the feelings that the gift represents, right? So I was pretty excited when Hallmark asked me to style an outfit inspired by a Hallmark Signature card.

If you haven’t seen the Hallmark Signature cards, you’re in for a serious treat. They’re fun, playful, and often have multi uses - like the one I picked out and will be giving everyone this summer for their birthdays. Cute enough that it warranted the purchase of a handful!

When I think of summer, ice cream is one of the first things that comes to mind. It’s the perfect treat and there’s no shortage of trucks and stores as soon as the temperatures begin to rise. So, when I saw the ice cream sandwich card (which later doubles as a cell phone case! Super cool, right?), I immediately pictured myself in white with feminine details and a pop of color, which of course, led to the pink shoe choice. Classic summer style, with a more adult twist. It’s almost as if I’m channeling my inner 5 year old just sans the ice cream dripping all over my dress and shoes.

All I need now is an actual ice cream sandwich and my summer is complete.
Check out the other Hallmark Signature cards here and the learn more about the collection via video below! Don’t forget to follow @HallmarkSignature on Instagram for more #signaturestyle.

The Golden Maxi

30 June 2015

Ok, there's no shortage of maxi dresses in my closet so you're no surprised that I brought home another one. Now, this one I'm still on the fence with it but so far (the whole one whopping wear I've gotten out of it} it seems ok. I think it might blend a little too much with the hair...

Summer Essential: The Fun Jumpsuit

29 June 2015

When it comes to summer dressing I have a weakness for a pieces with movement and flow. There's just something bout walking down the sidewalk and watching your fabric flow with you. It's beautiful.

So, once the sun comes out I find myself leaning towards floaty dresses, skirts and most recently this Aryn K jumpsuit. THIS JUMPSUIT GUYS. Truth be told I was a little nervous when I first tried it on, but after a few additions in the accessories department I've quickly fallen in love with it. It's effortless, and it has the flow, in the best possible way. Immediately making it a summer essential...
