NYFW Style With Savers

If you were following along on my Insta-stories last week you might have spotted that I partnered  with Savers again, this time with the mission to put together a fashion week look with items from the store. If you missed it on stories I went ahead and highlighted it so you can watch my whole shopping experience as well as the final look I created with my finds.

Now, if you're not entirely familiar with the Savers family you might know them as Value Village or Unique Thrift depending on where in the country you're located. Find a location near you, here. We don't have them in the city limits but it's a pretty quick drive to Long Island, and the perfect excuse to get away for even just a couple of hours. I stopped into the West Hempstead location and I was pretty excited to get started on my shopping adventure.

When it comes to thrifting I have a system that I go by to help me from getting overwhelmed by the sea of treasures and focus on the one-of-a-kind items I'm hunting for. First, I tend to look for accessories (this time around my main focus was belts). I'm loving the different styles out there right now and knew that Savers would be a jackpot, so I beelined straight for belts when I walked in the doors. I ended up with half a dozen unique (and real leather) styles for about $2-3 a piece. Major win!

What's Old Is New: Trends I'm loving in 2018

I'm one of those people who firmly believes that what's old eventually becomes new again. Let's be real when it comes to fashion trends it's 100% accurate. Most of the stuff I wore as a kid in the 90's have somehow found a way back into my closet as an adult. Truth: I'm not mad about it. I remember when I was in the 5th grade, I had this flower print polyester shirt dress and my mom said "that's so 70's - I had something like that when I was a kid". I'm sure that's the very moment that I realized that I am a gal about (60's and)  70's fashion because since then my closet has filled up the styles from the two eras. Bell sleeves, flowing maxi prints, handled bags and fun hats. This baker boy hat for example is on the top of my list, next to berets, for headwear that I couldn't wait to come back.
I personally love the structured military hat with feminine pieces like this ruffled swing dress. It's just enough borrowed from the boys with nods to the 60's swings dresses and over the knee (go-go) boots. So for this week's Ways To Wear post with my blogger bestie, Jackie we're talking about our favorites old but new (again) trends that we're loving.

As I said before, I love Berets and Baker Boy Hats - and naturally Jackie strongly agrees because she was thrilled to dig her beret out of her closet this season. As well as her mom's waterfall coat from the 80's or 90's - it's so good, right? It's similar to my blue one (seen here).

You also know that I'm all about handled bags and swing dresses with a good print. This one from ASOS even has a little sheer and sequin detailing with the ruffles to make it a little more EXTRA. OBSESSED. I wore with the my Nina boots (how amazing is the gold heel!?).

5 Trends I Love Right Now:

Accent Heels - LOVE embellished heels.
Headwear - It's all about Berets and Baker Boys in 2018!
Handled Bags - Let your bags handles do all the talking.
Bell Sleeves
Swing Dresses

Aviator Jacket & Frayed Hem Denim

Another day another wearing of this chunky H&M sweater. I better get my wears out now because it's  starting to warm up and I'm feeling it! So, this might be the last time you see it this season. Don't worry it'll be back next year.

But for the final hurrah, I'm wearing it with this faux shearling jacket from American Eagle (similar below), frayed hem denim, a baker boy hat over my braids and these star print booties. Perfect for wandering around the Village over the weekend..

10 Under $110 Spring ASOS Finds

After yesterday's ASOS post I immediately jumped over to check out some of their new arrivals to get a jumpstart on my spring wardrobe. This 60 degree weather is doing wonders for my wallet, ha! But in all seriousness, I'm loving everything right now and have already added most of these finds (under $110!) to my cart...

Check'm out!

Floral Wrap Top + Cropped Flare Jeans

Thankfully we had a couple temperate days during fashion week which made for the perfect time to break out some of my new ASOS favorites, most importantly these jeans and this top. (their tops are on fire right now!) I kept it super simple with the accessories and let the denim and floral wrap top do all the talking for the last day of fashion week.

If you're doing a little ASOS stalking I highly suggest you check out their denim selection, I'm almost exclusively buying ASOS jeans and I think these might be my favorite thus far. I love them with this floral wrap top with bell sleeves. Retro vibes for the win. Now, of course new jeans means new tops and I'm obsessed with all of the new arrivals in TOPS. I'll take them all please but most importantly anything with a wrap top. Who's with me?

Blue Waterfall Jacket + Cropped Jeans

Ok! So I'm super behind on posting my #NYFW outfits. I basically haven't been posting the last couple of weeks because both kids have been sick back to back. My question is why do they wait a week after the other one was sick to get sick instead of getting sick together? Wouldn't that be easier?  Naturally they both decided to miss the weeks leading up to their break this week, which means I'll be going on 3 weeks home with these guys so I'm going to go ahead and do the smart thing and schedule everything. I'm basically the worst with scheduling and I apologize!

Anywho, back to work!

Let's start things off with my outfit from Day #2. I snagged this amazing powder blue coat from the Bollare styling suite the day before and while it's not the most warm coat in my closet, I'm still a pretty big fan of the cut and length. I actually found it here, and it comes in a 5 more colors. Highly recommend.

I wore my new OhPolly coat with my new favorite black pants from Liverpool London. I found them on Zappos for $55 and loved them so much I ordered an additional pair. Such a flattering fit on my petite frame...

Next up, my trusty cashmere turtleneck (similar here) - I basically wear it with everything and anything so of course this all black look needed it in it's life especially with the addition of my target belt.

Yes, I needed a little sparkle. Mine came from Nina shoes - guys these booties are life (and on sale for $39)! I wore them all day and they were probably one of the more comfortable heels I wore during the week. Jackie has the exact same pair (twinning outfit coming soon!) and agreed.

Finally, my Fossil bag got a little update courtesy of Pretty Connected's new accessories line! This baker boy cap from ASOS and my Sunday Somewhere sunnies finalized my outfit keeping in line with the 60's retro vibes..
