Golden Milk Recipe

golden milk, turmeric tea, turmeric, turmeric mik
2017 is officially in full swing and if you're like the majority of the population chances are you've made some sort of resolution to make this the best year ever or something along those lines. Whether it's whipping yourself into shape, trying to get organized or finally buckling down and making some serious changes, you've likely hit the ground running and are seizing that goal (or goals). I personally am not getting too crazy just yet with the goals, after all we already have some big life changes coming our way in May. But, I will say I have had a hankering to try Golden Milk for like, forever. Basically, it's turmeric and a bunch of other amazing spices mixed with milk to warm the cockles of your heart. It's actually REALLY good and I don't use that description lightly, especially when it comes to alternating my other favorite cold weather beverages, like hot chocolate. Aside from being delicious, it has some pretty amazing properties, the turmeric alone is a reason to give it a shot. It's anti-imflammitory and has tons of anti-oxidant properties.

As far as creating the mustard-y hued concoction it's actually really simple and can be done a number of ways with a number of different types of recipes. I kept it simple for my first time and ended up sticking to this recipe, it does the trick.

Turmeric Milk (Golden Milk) - Serves 2

For The Paste:
1.5 C Milk (Cow, Coconut, or Almond Milk)
1/2 Cup Water
2 Tbsp. Ground Turmeric
1 Tsp. Ground Ginger
1 Tsp. Black Pepper (It help the Turmeric absorb)
3-4 Tbsp. raw honey
 1 Tbsp. Coconut Oil
1 Tsp. Cinnamon

In a sauce pan combine all ingredients and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve warm.
