The Classics

Whenever I'm in a style rut and find myself mid clothes explosion I always reach for classic items that have always worked in the past to give me that extra boost back into reality that I need. Of course the addition of a bold lip doesn't hurt either..

Watch It

Each year when Fall (finally) comes around I always reach for my layers first, whether it's my trusty moto jacket, oversized scarf or insanely cozy sweater I never fail to incorporate them the second the crisp Fall air presents itself. Of course it doesn't just stop there, I start reaching for more accessories, like statement necklaces, earrings and my new personal favorite, watches. Now, I'm not one for a huge arm party but a delicate bracelet or two paired with a classic watch is exactly what I'm feeling this season. Classic with a stylish modern touch. I'm pretty excited that I kind of got lucky with this Pulsar Watch, it's the right size for my otherwise petite wrists and works perfectly with my other gold accessories. It's easily taken from day to night, and adds just enough style to my Fall ensembles (plus, you know, it's practical).

It paired effortlessly with my white blouse and high waisted French Connection shorts when we experienced a brief heatwave over the weekend. But I have no doubt in my mind that it will look equally perfect paired with one of my many knits I have in store this season.
Loving the watch? You can grab it or check out the many other styles here (or at one of my current favorites, Kohl's)...

Mixed Media

Now that it's officially Fall and the temperatures are {quickly} dropping I'm bringing one of my favorite Fall pairings back for another season of awesome. Because, if there's one thing I love for Fall, aside from the overload of layers, it's the legwear. Socks in particular, which you saw last year here & here. There's just something about playing with textures and prints in not-so-conventional ways that does it for me, but you know this. Which is why I knew they'd be perfect for this outfit, the mixed print shirt, leather skirt and hat all together make everything lax with just the right amount of pop.

Le Tote X TfDiaries Style

I'm all for adding new pieces to my closet on a regular basis, the only problem is my tiny little apartment (and closet) really don't store a whole lot. I guess it's the downfall of these little NYC apartments, but I'm not complaining.

Mainly because I found a new secret weapon to this problem, and it's Le Tote.  Which is a monthly subscription service starting at $19 ($49 for the boutique box where they send you 5 pieces, 3 pieces of clothing & 2 accessories) at a time, for you to wear for as long as you'd like. Send them back and get a whole new shipment, it's unlimited through the month!

It pretty much defeats the purpose of having to go shopping for new items each season (or week) when you're feeling the itch of adding something new. Plus they have brands that you love like BCBG, French Connection, BB Dakota, & House of Harlow all in one place. When you sign up you can add items you love to your closet, and you're notified when there are new arrivals. Now, if you find a piece in your box that you simply just can't live with out, you can purchase it at a discounted price by not sending it back. I'm on my 3rd box and I'm pretty much obsessed at this point. It literally solved my lack of storage problem, and with style...(also it was kind of perfect for Fashion Week, just saying...)

With all that being said, I've teamed up with Le Tote to offer my awesome readers their very own chance to fall in love with the service by offering you 50% off with promo code "thefrugalistadiaries"! So go check it out, and let me know what you think.

And until then, check out what I wore and how I wore it from the box!

Currently Craving: Fall Under $50

With Fall kicking off on a fabulous note I've been on the hunt for this season's must haves for my closet. Which actually comes at a perfect time with the birthday heading my way next week. Clearly this is a two birds, one stone kind of moment. Now, I've found myself partial to playful head wear, statement accessories and my personal favorite, swing dresses this season - but I've made a little room for a few additional draped pieces. All under $50, naturally.

The Fall Short Suit

Now that the Fall weather is slowing creeping up on us I'm starting to realize that I better get last of the bare leg styles out of the way before I absolutely have to reach for tights and my other trusty friend, socks. I personally couldn't get enough of this {almost fall} date night ensemble. The boxy cropped top paired with the floaty high waisted shorts seemed almost too perfect with the addition of my tasseled {platform} tweed loafers and deep hued lip. I think I love it so much so that it might just make another appearance when the tights come out to play...

Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner + Giveaway

I've been a (pretty big) Benefit fan since falling in love with their Gimme Brow Gel & They're Real Mascara last year. Both products do pretty extraordinary things to my eyes and brows so it's hard not to stock up every chance I get. So, when they introduced the They're Real Push Up Liner this Summer I was definitely intrigued because one, I love Benefit and two, {most importantly} I love my cat eye. Now, it took me a little time to jump on board because I had to check out the reviews first and then after the raves went out it was pretty tricky to find in my normal spots. But I've come to find it can be easily found at Macy's and - which is currently running a promotion for a free deluxe sample of the They're Real Remover with purchase, so there's that added plus.
As far as the liner goes, it definitely is everything it claims to be and more. The Accu-FlexTM tip hugged my lash line for an easy application and it's budge free, matte gel formula stayed put all day, and even during my first facial wash. I reached for the They're Real Remover and it quickly swiped the liner off without having to tug, so I would say these items go hand in hand. I will say it took me a second to get the hang of the Accu-FlexTM tip but after correcting my first swipe it was smooth sailing from then on. Which means, I think this easily just took the place of all of my other perfect Cat Eye essentials and I'm totally ok with that.
And to show you how ok with that I am, Benefit and I are giving one lucky reader their very own chance to try the They're Real line out, by giving away a They're Real Mascara, They're Real Push Up Liner and of course, the They're Real Makeup Remover. Enter Below.

And if you can't wait, shop the collection at Macy's &!

This Week feat. The Reign Effect, Maurice's & Sole Society

After finally recovering from the week know as Fashion Week, I got the chance to catch up on some shopping, trashy tv and of course, take out. I also finally got a chance to go through my packages and unwrap some pretty awesome things coming to the blog soon, like these stunning Navy Suede Booties from Sole Society

Maurice's & DSN sent over the sweetest package to help me get in the mood for Fall (which of course needs no help, since it's my favorite season of all...

I also got a chance to check out The Reign Effect, which is a new awesome service where you receive a digital download of 20+ looks each month for Monday to Friday styling. Use items from your closet or shop the suggested pieces right from your download. I'm personally loving it because it gives me ideas that I might not have thought about, and it comes in handy on those days I'm having a full on clothes explosion and have no idea what to wear. You have several 'mood boards' to choose from so they're absolutely something for everyone and they're style.. Check it out.

And it end it out, I gave myself the last 'bright' mani of the season - bring on the fall colors!

NYFW: Day In The Life With Burt’s Bees

For Fashion Week this season I teamed up with
Burt’s Bees to share a day in the life at NYFW and to introduce their new {amazing} lip crayons. These Jojoba & Kendi oil (with just a touch of shea butter) enriched, moisturizing crayons have quickly won me and my cosmetic case over with their creamy matte colors created with 100% natural ingredients and no added flavors or fragrance. Now, I’ve found myself a bit partial to Hawaiian Smolder & Napa Vineyard, but there’s 6 shades to choose from so there’s a little something for everyone (check out the lip shade finder to find your perfect match).

Wear alone, or throw on some lipgloss and you’re ready to hit the streets & tents.

For Day Two of Fashion Week with Burt’s Bees, I kicked things off early on Friday at Stella Nolasco where I fell in love with her cheery floral prints, sheer, lace and metallic pairings and exuberant pops of color on everything from jumpsuits to flowing full skirted gowns.
Next, I hopped in a cab and made my way downtown to get a hair and makeup refresh with Burt’s Bees & TotallyHer at the Style Coalition Lounge. I got to catch up with Julia, while I grabbed a quick breakfast and swiped on Burt’s Bees Hawaiian Smolder before heading back to Lincoln Center for Zimmermann to fall in love with the metallic pleated skirts and dresses from the Spring 15’ collection.
After an afternoon at the tents I headed home to snap off a few pictures and a quick outfit change for dinner at the Style Coalition loft with Burt’s Bees & TotallyHer. I reached for Sedona Sands to give my almost all black ensemble a light pop of pink before heading out to see some of my old friends and of course, make a few new. We all connected over an intimate dinner of apricot chicken, cauliflower risotto and a honey cinnamon poached pear served over vanilla ice cream. The night went by so quickly, and I was sad when I had to part ways with Dianna at the train station.

I headed home, and got ready to do it all over again, just with different colors...

Hanes Live.Love.Color Tees, Two Ways

I’m all for adding color to my ensemble especially when it comes in the form of a comfy tee that can be easily dressed up or worn with while lounging around the house. I just love the ease of throwing it on with a pencil or midi skirt with just the addition of a fabulous heel or necklace to spice things up. So when Hanes introduced me to their Live.Love.Color Tees I couldn’t resist giving a handful of them a whirl. The colors are vibrant, the fit is super soft and they come an array of (neck) designs and fits. I found that one of the best parts is they’re super budget friendly at $10 and under, which means I can finally stop buying those $30 tees that I’m terrified to wash...

With that being said, I thought my post Fashion Week style needed a pop of color to perk me up so I threw the tees on with two of my favorites to help keep things stylish while I stroll right on into Fall. And if you’re not in the color mood check out the Hanes Signature camis for your wardrobe style staple additions in Black and White (or any of the other 12 color choices).

Don’t forget to check out the Hanes look book to find your perfect fit!
