Sarah Jessica Parker's SJP Collection at Nordstrom

Earlier this week I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the soon to be famous shoes and sit down with the amazing Sarah Jessica Parker for a few minutes to talk about the line (launching today at Nordstrom).  Sarah Jessica quickly went on to tell me about the inspiration behind the line and her hopes to bring back the "simple sexy shoe". Drawing inspiration from the late 70's designers like Charles Jourdan, Ferragamo and Maud Frizon (in which she named the "Maud" after), SJP revealed it was "all about a simple single soled shoe" made in Italy. Adding lots of color and details to the timeless shapes, as any Carrie Bradshaw fan would've expected. From the grosgrain ribbon intricately detailed on the back of each shoe to the nod to Ms. Bradshaw herself with a flower topped heel, her collection is everything this shoe lover could every imagine. I have a feel we're going to be wearing these classically designed shoes for years to come.
And though she couldn't quite pick a favorite, she expressed extreme fondness for the Purple Carrie (I think it's my favorite!), the Asparagus Anna and of course, the Maud, which Sarah Jessica refers to as "a neutral" and it absolutely is, we know this. With a wide variety of heel heights and prices ranging from $195 to under $500, I have a feeling this collection might just sell out. And if you're not into shoes she has beautifully crafted handbags pricing up to $375, as well as a classically constructed trench coat that reminds me of the one her Gap commercial back in 2005.
All in all, Sarah Jessica's collection sings affectionately to my inner Carrie Bradshaw. But I wouldn't of expected anything less, especially with George Malkemus (Manolo Blahnik) as her business partner, who is also a sweetheart and just as passionate about the collection as SJP.
Since they hit and select stores today, I have to know who's running out for their very own pair? Also, if you're in the NYC area, Sarah Jessica will be making appearances at the Nordstrom Pop Up Shop all weekend! (Details here)

Simple Separates

I guess everyone was right when they said I've been wearing A LOT of black lately. I'm thinking it's about time to start bringing my colors back (say March 1st?). Though, I couldn't resist getting simple with these perfect separates on our latest 'warmish' day.

The Four P's Of Decorating

It’s been around two months since we moved into our new place, and I can honestly say we have a long way to go with decor. I’m not even exaggerating when I say there is nothing hung on our walls yet. Apparently life loves to get in the way, inevitably. So for the next couple months I’ve made it my mission to get things settled and done, which reminded me of some of my mom’s favorite tips when it comes to decorating. She always told me there’s three “P’s” to use as a rule of thumb to make decor pop and they are Plants, Pictures and Pillows. But, for me I think there’s actually four, with the fourth being Prints, naturally. She’s a little more on the conservative side so I won’t hold her to it for skipping out on the last.

So I decided it’s time to put those rules to work and get inspired. Since we all know I love prints I always make an effort to do a little (or a lot of) print mixing, which you’ve seen here. For beginners throw a couple print pillows on your couch and follow up with a bold throw or rug, perhaps polka dot and chevron pairings? If you’re really feeling ‘crazy’ layer up on print pillows like these. Kind of killed two birds with one stone...(photo credit)
Next, we're going to need some pictures and a gallery wall is one heck of a stylish (and popular way) to go these days. Just remember to bring the level, no one likes a crooked picture. (photo credit)
Finally finish off with Plants. Now, I'm a bonafide plant killer in these parts, I just can't keep them going, especially Orchids. But lucky for me, my husband knows a thing or two about keeping these essentials alive, and even lets me water them every now and then. These (below) have been my easiest plants to care for, you can even clip them and put them in a vase and they'll grow.
Do you get inspired by the 4 P's?

Don't forget to check out Haverty's for more fabulous "P's" and stay tuned for some awesome sales coming up starting 3/10!

Hair Of Fashion Week - Fall 2014

With Fashion Week somewhat in the past, I can't help but look forward to Fall and decide what playful hair styles I'll be trying now and then. So I rounded up my favorite finds from the runways (well, that I caught first hand..) and am bringing them over this way for a little inspo...

1. The  (Asymmetrical) Bob
Since this hair style has been enormous this year on and off the runway I have a feeling it's not going any where any time soon.
Nicholas K Fall 2014

2. Side Part Loose (Low) Chignon
Every bit romantic and can be taken from work, to drink to a hot date. I vote yes to seeing more of these tousled beauties..
Tadashi Shoji Fall 2014

3. Sleek Middle Part Chignon
Changing things just slightly for a more bold take on the classically tousled chignon this one screams elegant and fearless without having to say a word.
Christian Siriano Fall 2014

4. Sleek and Teased Pony
Ok, I'm not even ashamed to admit this is my favorite and might even channel it in the near future, mainly because the back is pretty much what my hair looks like after I've brushed it. So we're almost there. Plus it's glam, retro and full of volume - all things I love.
Noon By Noor Fall 2014

5. Sleek Straight Hair
With sorts of movement and flow, styled with an exaggerated part. I have a feeling my (fun for now) middle part might be making a break for the side...
Timo Weiland Fall 2014

6.  The Va Va Voom Pony
If you're not a first time reader you know how I feel about this pony and how I will be doing everything in my power to make this happen on my hair. Hello Bombshell in this Va Va Voom Pony with teasing action and sleek side pony.
Trina Turk Fall 2014

Now, I have to ask...

...Which would you try?

Tweed, Leather and Denim

I seem to find myself sticking to the same textures and hues, pairing them over and over again. Especially this season. So when I was getting ready the other day, I glanced over in the direction of color and saw these two sitting next to each other and I knew I had to make it work.

Spot The Steal: Miu Miu Sunglasses

When it comes to sunglasses I have a soft spot for unique and eclectic shapes and sizes. I find myself reaching for a fun print or color. I mean you might as well stand out, right? So when I spotted these sunglasses on the major cheap at Lulu's, I couldn't resist picking them up. Especially when they closely resemble a popular pair from Miu Miu. The color is slightly off but I'm thinking they're just close enough to play Can you Spot The Steal? See how I wore them here.

Fuzzy Sweater

When I bought this sweater last week I knew that I wanted to pair it with everything, mainly because I never wanted to take it off again. As you can see it's just too comfy for words, and luckily it has the ability to go with just about everything. So when I saw this pleated skirt sitting on my desk just begging to be worn I knew exactly what to pair it with for a winterized solution.

Central Park

There's just something about cozying up and taking an afternoon walk through Central Park. I don't know if it's the romantic in me but it just does something for me, especially with snow covering the ground. So over the weekend when we took the boys to their favorite spot off 57th, we added on a minute or two for people watching and taking in the scenery. Of course layering up was key and I got to wear my new Nordstrom Rack gloves to shake things up with my essentially black ensemble.

Playfully Parisian

A couple weeks ago I mentioned the Pickwick & Weller "Be A Stylist" campaign (here). This time around I'm actually styling up one of their luxe tees for a little "Be A Stylist" action of my own. Being that I'm all about layering tees under my winter pieces this season, and that it's starting to warm up slightly (we're at 34˚!) I was able to just throw my leather jacket over my tee and call it a day.

I decided to mix things up a little and dress up my Margot black v-neck with a playful striped skirt, boots, and cozy scarf. Swiped on a little red lipstick and grabbed my leopard gloves to finish things off. Playfully Parisian? Just about...

Don't forget to grab your tee and style your best look for your chances to win a career consultation with Celebrity Stylist, Samantha McMillon, a session with collaborative marketing agency, Collectively Inc. ,and of course more Pickwick and Weller merchandise.
