Frye's Carmen Boot is perfect thrown over jeans and a plaid ruffled button down on a cold day or even a  frilly dress, however their almost $300 price tag is a little hard to get past. Enter Forever21's Leatherette Biker Boots for under $50, the only thing lacking is the real leather from Frye's version - just think of it this way "they're more eco friendly" now ;). Psst..They both come in brown too.

Going home is always a bittersweet tale, whether you're just craving sleeping in your own bed again or getting back into the swing of things again while saying goodbye to family you wish you saw more. And though I'm happy to be going home I just can't see how the time flew by so fast. For our ''Last Hurrah" of the trip we headed on down to Highlands and grabbed some hot cocoa, cruised the shops and checked out some gorgeous views.

Since the most common thing to do here is site seeing we made a little trip to the top of the mountain to check out the gorgeous view of North Carolina, South Carolina and even Georgia ( I've heard you can see the lights of Atlanta on a clear night)...I threw my newly acquired (thrifted) wrap over a sweater dress and tights and completed with slouchy boots. I'm going to be sad to go in the next couple of days, especially since we're going home to pack up our things and move on up to the city in the next few weeks. 

When I was growing up we would come to my grandparent's summer home here in Sapphire and spend a few weeks during the summer and winter (until my parent's built a vacation home of their own down the street). My grandmother being the creative that she is made us each a path of our own following down the stream, I got Megan's Secret Path and my brother got Jamie's Bullfrog Path and my cousin Patrick's Trout Trail. So it's been fun to come back and play on our paths and watch Aiden run around and throw stones in the stream, I wonder what his path will be called...

Gobble Gobble

Of course as soon as I put this dress on the blue skies turn grey and it starts to rain, even with the rain it still managed to hit the spot for warmth (with added leggings underneath) and comfort. Turns out my jeans never made it into the suitcase and are probably sulking on my bed at home, so bear with me through all the dresses this week. 

Today the weather was a little warmer so I paired my sweater vest over a sweater dress paired with textured tights and otk boots.

I was so excited when I found these over the knee faux shearling boots at Old Navy the other day on sale for $25 (they're currently having a sale for the "Adoraboots" starting at $15). They're uber comfortable and warm, and though these particular ones aren't real suede many of them are. I was even more thrilled when I realized my camel leather jacket matched them perfectly, just in time for out first day here in the mountains. It's 47 degrees and I'm loving it! 

Looking at a 9 hour drive to the mountains ahead of me, I'm looking for some comfort as well as some style (obviously). I was pleasantly surprised when I found this fabulous military inspired sweater at Nordstrom Rack ($25) the other day, it was clear it was meant to be my traveling sweater. I opted to pair it with a stretch tunic, leggings and booties completing the look with a colorful bag, scarf and loose side braid. Simple yet put together.

Turns out I was foreseeing the future when I snagged this fabulous tribal print maternity dress back in July, because less than a month later found out I was going to need it. Luckily this dress is great before, during and after pregnancy. I opted to pair it with opaque tights, a colorful bag and studded booties to run some errands to put together last minute trip supplies.
