Express Style: Sweater Layering

Since the weather hasn't hit record lows just yet, I'm holding off on bringing out the pants and embracing the very last days of bare legs. In today's case I'm doing it with the help of Express. I actually found this adorable mock neck sweater after doing some digging in their new arrivals a couple of weeks back and immediately knew I had to bring it home with the addition of a couple of other goodies. While it's likely the 100th black sweater in my closet who could resist the cozy 'just throw me on' feel or the under $60 price tag? It was a done deal before even trying it on. Really. Since I'm resisting the urge to just throw on a pair of jeans for the moment I wanted to explore other layering options to match up to the ideal fall weather we've been experiencing for the last few weeks. So, I scooped up this delicate little shift dress to wear with my newly found (and quite possibly favorite) sweater for laid back feminine daytime look. Just a sliver of skin and lace, making the the dress and sweater styling the perfect lunch date attire to my newly re-opened favorite Thai place in Astoria, Pochana. After dark, ditch the cozy outer layer in exchange for a little leather and voila! You're ready for a night on the town with friends.

As the weather starts to head into heavier layers, swap out bare legs for jeans. I'm thinking distressed high waisted denim and block heeled booties. Cozy up with a spiced latte, blanket scarf and faux shearling jacket (like this one, need!). Don't forget the easy carryall like this adorable drawstring tote

Pumpkin Spice Latte Milkshakes

Pumpkin spice, you love it. Whether it's out in the open or one of your deepest darkest secrets, chances are you can't resist indulging the seasonal favorite at least once. I know I can't. Lucky for you, you can easily do it from the comfort of your home without spending a fortune on a single (be it delicious) cup. Enter, International Delight's seasonal (NEWPumpkin Pie Spice Iced Coffee, for those not quite sweater-weather mornings and Pumpkin Pie Spice Creamer to perk up your coffee routine.

Enjoy the iced coffee and creamer together, on their own or in my case, create a little something special with the two. I have a pretty serious sweet tooth, so I decided why not bring this favorite fall flavor to one of my drinks of choice, the milkshake? The creamy, sweet blend from the creamer fills in as a perfect ice cream substitute and the flavorful iced coffee formed the base ingredient. The heaping pile of whipped cream and homemade butternut squash mini donuts did not diminish the experience...

All you need is a blender, a couple of glasses and a moment to enjoy your delicious creation. I have a feeling this might be a popular addition for any (or all) fall entertaining...

Pumpkin Pie Spice Latte Milkshake
1 Cup International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice Iced Coffee
1/4 Cup International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice Creamer
1/2 Cup Of Ice
Optional: Whipped Cream

Garnish with mini donuts, pumpkin pie spice and/or whipped cream.

 - In a blender combine Iced Coffee, Creamer and Ice. Blend until smooth.

- Pour into glass and top with whipped cream. Enjoy.

Not sure where to find the International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice flavors? Find them in click with the product locator, here (be sure to click on the 'seasonal' category. I found them both at Shoprite)

How To Wear Duck Boots

This post is sponsored by Zappos.
Surprisingly enough, after several years of living in the north I have yet to own a pair of duck boots. I'm likely the only one. Turns out after all this time I've been missing out because this particular pair from Kamik is actually pretty awesome, especially when speaking towards the comfort levels of the sustainable, versatile and stylish boot. But, I wouldn't expect anything less from the 118 year old Canadian company. They're obviously doing something right and I would definitely recommend checking out their boots on Zappos, who has a pretty extensive selection for men, women and children. The boots are more on the affordable side with a median price range of $120 for a pair of boots. I personally set my sights on the Evelyn from their Heritage 1898 collection, because I am sorely lacking in the dark brown footwear department and this boot style is a classic (who knew they would be such an essential!). The contrasting laces and (waterproof) lightweight  RubberHe shell add a pop of color and texture that you wouldn't necessarily get with your typical fall boots. The decorative buckle detail adds an extra pop to the overall style of the classic boot. The fact that they are all weather proof doesn't hurt either, wear them now with chunky socks and a flirty dress for a beautiful fall day and bundle up for the snow later with an oversized sweater, skinny jeans and a jacket. The options are endless, you can even take them through spring showers if you please. Plus, the fixed 200B 3M™ Thinsulate™ insulation offers a warm and comfortable foot environment, regardless of the season.

Check out Kamik at Zappos and stock up on your winter boots for the season. Don't forget about 365-day free returns, super fast free shipping and award winning customer service. All of which are easily why Zappos is my favorite online retailer.

5 Ways To Wear The Chunky Knit Sweater

If there's one sweater in my closet that I've gotten a ton of wear out of over the last couple of years it is definitely this white chunky cable knit sweater. I've been able to wear it a number of ways, creating entirely different looks with each wear. Surprisingly enough it's still available online (you can grab it here) and I would 100% recommend adding it or something similar to your closet just to make your fall and winter stylings so much easier. Sometimes all it takes is one staple...

Here's 5 ways to wear the token Chunky Knit Sweater

Fall Boots: SOREL Conqest Wedge

Sponsored by Zappos.
If there's one boot I can always count on during the fall and winter season it is without a doubt, SOREL. After partnering with them for the last several years I've found that their boots not only hold up to the test against the elements but they can be worn with everything from floaty skirts to distressed jeans. This season, with Zappos & SOREL, I'm stepping outside of my usual  Medina and Cate The Great comfort zone and opting for something a little more rugged: the SOREL Conquest. I'm almost 100% certain I picked these based on the shoe laces and lace up detail but after slipping into the micro fleece liner and the molded insole my feet were in absolute heaven. Like most of my SOREL pieces the super soft leather is weatherproof and made to last. I love the molded 3'' pronounced tread wedge, it's not too high and not entirely flat making it perfect for city sidewalks and our trips to the mountains, while giving my 5'3 frame a little height. I ended up styling the Conquest with black high-waisted denim, a turtle neck, and a red & black fringe cardigan. I couldn't resist the red and black contrast from the sweater and the laces. But, I think the booties would look equally cute paired with an oversized sweater, chunky socks and a flirty skirt for the perfect tough meet feminine fall look.

Check out the entire SOREL selection at Zappos and take advantage of their super fast free shipping and incredible customer service. Plus, free 365 day returns, who can beat that? Really?

Fringe and Butterflies

I'm almost always all for flirty printed dresses like this butterfly print tiered dress from Bebe, but for some reason this season I've been reaching for them more and more. My most favorite pairing has to be with "tougher" jackets like this suede fringe one and over the knee boots. It's the perfect fall bohemian pairing.

Fall Essential: The Hobo Bag

One of my favorite bag shapes has to be the classic, holds everything, hobo bag. There's no resisting the draped, sling over your shoulder silhouette especially when it comes with zipper details like this Vera Bradley version, the Vivian. The super soft pebbled leather in cognac makes this 'hobo' easily styled with all of your outfits choices throughout the season including, but obviously not limited to, this black and cognac pairing.

I'm all for this all black with a pop of brown look from some of my favorite fall staples; over the knee boots, a leather(ette) mini and a classic black turtleneck.  Since, my boots are starting to slouch a bit on one side I figured a quick and stylish fix would be the addition of a scarf, which surprisingly enough matches up perfectly to the bag. Win and Win.

Who else is digging hobo bags this season? Shop The Vivian here (also in black and claret).
