Summer Favorite: Frappé

frappe made with stevia

I’ll be the first to admit that I have a sweet tooth. I would gladly trade any cocktail for something chocolate on any given day. It has, and will always be my vice and I’m totally ok with that. So, when I needed a little something to sweeten my frappé recipe over the weekend I gave Born Sweet® Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener a try and found myself pleasantly surprised. No funny aftertaste and zero calories, and derived from extract of Mother Nature’s stevia plant? I’ll take it. Just sprinkle into my coffee, tea, and/or any of my favorite beverages {including cocktails!} and voila, a taste of sweet excitement. It’s like indulging in my guilty pleasure, without the guilt.

Back to the frappé, we’re all about them in our house and neighborhood. Like most greek specialties in Astoria, the frappe is in no shortage. We have our favorite spot around the corner when we’re out and are craving the cold sweet frothy drink. But let’s be real, It’s  ridiculously easy to make and you’ll never want to go back to plain iced coffee again.

Now, mine doesn’t quite rival the one from the neighborhood bodega, but I will say it comes close and it takes all of two minutes, without the $3 per single serving. Plus, I get to choose what to sweeten it with...
Here’s what you need:
2 Tablespoons Instant Coffee
1-2 packets Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener
Water, Milk & Ice Cubes

Start by spooning the coffee and Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener into a large jar or cup. Fill with about 6-8 oz of water.
Mix with immersion blender (or put it in a blender) and blend until frothy.

Pour into a tall glass with ice cubes, top off with milk (optional).
Enjoy.
