Modernizing Classic Hollywood

When it comes to getting glam, I've always felt drawn to the old Hollywood esque styles whether it's shimmering gowns or retro waves on icons like Veronica Lake, Marilyn Monroe & Elizabeth Taylor it's always emoted class, elegance, and style, if I could choose an Era this would be the one I'd pick. So, of course with Lifetime's premiere of Liz & Dick  nearing it became no greater time than now to talk about bringing a little old Hollywood glam to your modern day style, after all we all love a little retro. Don't we?
Obviously the easiest way to add that little touch of glamour without having to delve into your closet comes with one of my favorite steps in getting dressed, make up. If I could wear a red lip every day I would, there's just something about a red lip paired with winged eye liner that makes me feel 'done'. Most days my makeup routine requires one or the other, and in more cases than not, both. Now, not everyone loves a red lip or a winged eye, so other great options would be a clean, and classic vampy nail or taking a stab at retro waves adorned with a little sparkle.
While In most cases I wouldn't always pair a retro glam face with clothing, there's always a place for it, especially for social gatherings like galas, cocktail, and even holiday parties. However, those occasions don't always come as often as we'd like so bringing Hollywood glam home doesn't always seem practical or it would seem. Think silhouettes, whether it's a slimming pencil or a fresh take on peplum in the form of a tee or skirt. Other easy options a touch of sparkle with beading, sequins or other eye catching embellishment, alone, or paired with sheer layering. Nothing quite screams glamour like an embellished sheer overlay. Still weary? Go for accessories like glam sequined clutches or vintage inspired jewelry, like necklaces and earrings. Try not to pair all of these together, at the risk of going "full costume". And as always, have fun with it, it's only style after all...
