Spot The Steal - Calvin Klein Clueless Dress

I think I've seen the movie Clueless, well about a dozen times. For the iconic 90's over the tops fashions of Cher, Dionne, and Amber, right? It seems they're making a comeback, Calvin Klein recently released Cher's iconic white (itty bitty) dress for a limited edition collection for Confederacy (here). The dress comes in red or the original white for $916. Seriously almost a $1000 for a tiny piece of (iconic) fabric....ouch!  Below is a cheaper version from Revolve Clothing for $61. What do you think will you be taking a trip down memory lane.

Sunny Stripes

You can't keep my out of stripes this summer, they're just jumping out at me every time I walk into my closet. I just picked up this blue cardigan (or dress, or whatever it is - long right?)...for $2.50 on clearance at Old Navy Sunday, love their 30% ( and 50% off ) sales. I paired it with a white tank and my trusty navy striped mini (which can also be found at Forever21 for under $10). My free pedi was chipping so I threw on some boots and headed out today. I love love love my new cat eye sunglasses.

Austin Summer

Howdy Megan,

I'm going to Austin at the end of next month to visit my boyfriend. I want to pull of a summer look with cowboy boots. Do you have any cute outfit ideas and maybe a recommendation for a cute pair of boots I can wear while I'm out there?
                                                Thanks, Cowgirl B

I love a good cowboy boot, I always like to pair them with uber girlie pieces to play with the rustic feel. Here are some looks (for summers in Austin) I put together around a few pairs of cowboy boots, all of which are under $50.

For the first look I paired a tan mid calf boot with a light knit belted dress. I completed the look with vintage inspired jewelry and a brown faux leather hobo. For a cool night add a cropped denim jacket, and voila!

Zipper Leatherette Bag, Forever21 $25.80
Midnight Floral Woven Dress, Forever21 $19.80
Vintage Locket Necklace, Forever21 $4.80
Fancy Polished Cuff, Forever21 $4.80
Mossimo Supply Co. Kenna Boot, Target $29.99

For the second Look I went with a traditional skinny and added a pop of color with a colorful drop waisted top. Finished it off with bohemian accessories and a brown studded boot.

Fashion Cuff Bracelet, Old Navy $9.99
Striped Drop Waist Top, Old Navy $19.50
Beaded Metallic Hoop Earrings, Old Navy $7.50
Embroidered Skinny Jeans, Wetseal $15
Rampage Inspire 2 Cowboy Boot, Endless $43.96

Old Navy is offering 30% off sitewide (and in stores) until 6/29, Promocode ONBIG30

For the last look I took a denim mini skirt and paired it with a plaid button down for a more 'country casual' look. I completed the look with black ankle boots and . The shirt can be worn tucked in with a belt or untucked (and if you're really bold wear it cropped..) with an oversized hobo bag and aviator sunglasses . The last two looks are interchangeable, giving more options.

Aviators , Forever21 $5.80
Mossimo Supply Co. Overdye Shirt - Mango, Target  $12.58
Faux Leather Zip Hobo, Old Navy $24.50
Distressed Denim Mini, Old Navy $24.50
Miss Me Janice Western Boot, DSW $39.94

I hope these looks are of some help, have fun in Austin!

Layered Summer

I plan on spending a lot of time outdoors this summer, which mean sunscreen and light weight clothes and accessories. I layered a belted oversized silk tunic over a black tank and paired it with roll up shorts.
Layering is the easiest way to mix it up, when you're going through the closet blahs. Which everyone gets every now and then.

My Internet has been out of whack lately, So it's been hard to post. Sorry I hope I get the problem resolved soon!

Cupcake and Denim

My Husband and I made our way down to Orlando's itty bitty China ( more like Viet ) Town to pick up some herbs and some fabulous Boba Tea ( or how I remember it Bubble Tea). Which is one of the things I miss most about New York, I used to grab Bubble Tea every morning before heading out on the 7 train. It's just not the same anywhere else. As far as this Zac Posen for Target dress goes, I feel and potentially look like a cupcake. I picked it up on clearance for $15, with no plans on where to wear it. Maybe I need to have a tea party at high noon. ;) I paired it with a denim jacket and a pair of peep toe pumps. I toned it down on the accessories because the dress is statement enough.

What do you think? Cupcake?

Wrap Me Up

I love a good wrap dress or shirt, I especially love these shirts I got a few of the years ago at BCBG. I love the 40's inspired feel of this shirt, plus it's super comfy. The shirt is actually olive green but it photographed  kind of grey, er. I paired it with a tailored pair of khaki shorts, a print clutch and strappy platforms.

Do you love wrapping yourself up?

Lauren Conrad LC's Summer Collection at Kohl's

Sunday when I was picking up some last minute gifts for Father's Day I noticed Lauren Conrad's summer collection had been put out. It had some of my online favorites and along with pieces I hadn't seen yet.
I was pleasantly surprised with the use of color, and some of the fabrics. But a lot of the blouses and dresses had a hard cotton that wasn't  comfortable or flattering. Disappointing. I did however like the rust colored chiffon Tank from the Bohemian Rhapsody Collection and the denim cut off shorts (rolled up). Everything was pretty reasonable, especially on sale which most the time it is at Kohl's. The maxi dresses topped out at $60 and went down from that.  In the end I didn't purchase anything, I might just wait until it goes on clearance.

Here some of my finds....

What's on my Radar - Jalapeno Shopper

Over the weekend I was introduced to a fiery online accessory store, the Jalapeno Shopper. Jalapeno Shopper is a trendy yet quirky up and coming shop that carries fabulous hair accessories as well as stylish necklaces, bracelets and bold rings. The people at Jalapeno Shopper travel around the world looking for indie artists and designers to feature in the boutique, where you'll find rings from Thailand, a necklace from Mexico, or a cuff bracelet from a hip designer in New York City and more. And of course they're budget friendly, with most everything well under $100 and plenty under $50 and $20. They even have something for you stylish guys out there. Some of my favorites include the jeweled Bon Bon hair clips, the Zodiac Sign Necklaces (in Libra of course), the Flowercuff, and the Crazy Cluster rings ( Love Love).....Just to name a few...

Right now Jalapeno Shopper is offering 25% off all hair decor to The Frugalista Diaries readers as a grand opening special, with coupon code JSHAIR.

Pretty in Pink

In case you haven't noticed this past week I haven't posted too much, being that my internet is not really functioning. Which is extremely frustrating, first we left our cell phone chargers at the beach house and now my internet is out. Nice. I'm hoping when I get my new computer this week the problem will be solved.
As far as Looks of the Day go, I haven't posted any because my lack of connection and apparently it takes more to upload pictures. Oh well, I've been missing my pink tutu. I think if I honestly loved the way my tutu fit I'd wear it every single day, no joke. It's one of those things that make me smile. Anyhow I was lucky enough this week to have a wonderful spa day this week thanks to my ah-mazing husband and they threw in a free pedicure, and I opted for pink of course. It's great because they gave me the OPI nail polish to take home, so I gave my self a matching manicure. I'm all pinked out today.

I paired my tutu with a white tank and a brocade jacket. Completed the look with colorful peep toes and satchel.

Va Va Vegan

When I think of vegan shoes my head goes straight to TOMS , or well shoes that I personally would not wear. I always thought they were well strange looking, but not in a good way. I must have been living under a rock or something because there is a whole world of fashionable vegan shoes that I've been missing out on. Most recently I discovered the Vegan Shoe Department at Lulu', and boy was I surprised. Not only is the array of wedges, caged heels, gladiators and oxfords amazing, most importantly they're all well under $100 (and mostly under $50 with the exception of Jeffrey Cambell's Lace Up Boot that runs for $129). Cheap and Chic, yes please. They carry everything for everyone with over 150 shoes to choose from, with designer inspired looks from the likes of Jimmy Choo, Louboutin and more. But this comes as no surprise because Lulu's never ceases to amaze me with their spot on trendy online boutique. I think I might be a little too excited for my own good (or well my wallet's)...

Now Until July 18 Lulu's is offering 15% off to The Frugalista Diaries readers, with promo code - Frugalista (one use per person)
