Casual Chic

The Frugalista Diaries
I'm 25 years old and I work at a travel agency, we work mostly over the phone so our dress code is SUPER casual, I want to stop wearing my jeans and flip flops everyday (I live in Florida) but I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb with my other coworkers that will be wearing shorts and flip flops all year long. I just need a couple of ideas or guidelines to follow.
                                          Thanks in advance,
More Than Jeans and Flip Flops

Florida is extremely hot and it's not even technically summer yet, so I feel your pain. Here are a couple of outfit ideas I put together for your super lax work environment from Target, Old Navy and Forever21. I stuck with a lot of neutrals and used hints of bold color or prints. Everything is interchangeable, and can be worn with different shoes - depending on the mood. Sometimes Tank tops aren't too office friendly but can be easily remedied with light weight knit cardi or a cotton jacket.

For Look #1 I opted for a tailored linen short in a neutral brown, it gives a little hit of dressed up to the extreme casual of a short. I paired it with a pretty yellow Grecian inspired tank, and topped it off with an embellished t-strap sandal and colorful bohemian jewelry. A white light weight cotton jacket would work if you want something to cover your shoulders. ( Grecian Inspired Tank - Old Navy $19.50, Wooden Cuff Bracelet - Old Navy $9.00, Wooden Bead Necklace - Old Navy $10.00, Linen Tie Shorts  - Forever21 $15.80, Faux Turquoise T-Strap Sandal - Target $12.00)

Look #2 I took a pair of distressed boyfriend khakis ( I love the rolled up look) and added a slouchy light weight button down. I topped it off with a beachy necklace, gold bangles and a gold statement ring. And finished with a strappy wedge, boyfriend looks always look better with a heel ;) .
(Clustered Bauble Necklace - Old Navy $14.50,  Linen Blend Boyfriend Shirts - Old Navy $24.50, Tionne Ring - Forever21 $4.80, Distressed Boyfriend Khakis - Old Navy $32.50, Mixed Textured Bangles -Forever21 $5.80, Cross Strap Wedges - Old Navy $29.50)

A casual flirty summer dress belted at the waist is the statement piece of Look #3. I chose a woven wedge sandal, gold bangles and a tie necklace to complete the look. If the straps are too thin you can throw a knit cardi over and belt it with the dress, so cute. ( Asymmetrical Ruffle Dress - Target $21.99, Studded Braided Belt - Forever21 $6.80, Exotic Fashion Necklace - Old Navy $12.00 Woven Wedge - Target $22.99, Gold Bangles - Old Navy $9.50)

For the last look ( Look #4) , I used a black boyfriend V and paired it with a flouncy bold print skirt in black and gray. I chose an edgy embellished chain necklace, silver bangles and a black gladiator heel. This look can be tucked in and belted or not, your choice.  ( V-neck Tee - Old Navy $10.00,  Embellished Chain Necklace -Old Navy $10.00, Brush Print Skirt - Forever21 $14.80, Mossimo Gladiator Sandal - Target $29.99, Silver Tone Metallic Bangles - Old Navy $10.50)

Remember to always try different pieces with your key pieces and see what you like and what works for you, it's different for everybody. I hope these were helpful and you're able to branch out from just wearing your typical jeans and flip flops. I'm sure a little attention isn't too bad, you might even turn your office around because they'll be trying to steal your style ;)
