The 4-step clean beauty routine you never knew you needed in your life
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of FANCL. All opinions are 100% mine.
Give a girl a good skincare routine and she can rule the world. That was said somewhere, right? Ok, I might have just made it up. Either way, we all know skincare is key if you want to keep your skin healthy and glowing. Now more than ever I am serious about perfecting my skincare routine as I get on in years so I can get ahead of the fine lines and occasional breakouts. Something I probably should have done 5ish years ago, but I digress.
Outdoor Summer Essentials: AVON’s Skin So Soft Bug Guard Collection
This post is sponsored by AVON. All opinions are my own.
During the summer months, I think it's safe to say we spend most of our time outdoors. With that being said, I am so excited to be teaming up with AVON because their Skin So Soft Bug Guard Collection has me covered for anything and everything. If we're not on a picnic blanket in one of the city's amazing parks we're either at the beach, riding the ferry or hitting an outdoor movie after sunset.
5 Must-Try Beauty Products For Fall
This post is sponsored by Redbook. All opinions are my own.
For me, I’m constantly on the hunt for new beauty products to try out and share with you guys. Whether it’s skincare, hair essentials or makeup, I try to keep it well-rounded with the up and coming finds out of the beauty-sphere. One of my favorite ways to do so is the Redbook RED Beauty Box. Every-time a box pops in, there’s at least one item that I find myself using religiously and ultimately buying later on down the road. This time around there’s A LOT of winners in the box and I’m pretty excited to share each one with you, because I have a feeling you’re going to be just as into them as I, especially come winter.
First up: give your hair some Va Va Voom with the Sexy Hair Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Lite Soft Volumizing and Texturizing Powder. I actually already have this in my beauty cabinet and it.is.good.stuff. If you have thin to fine hair that refuses to volumize, this product hooks you up. You just pump on dry hair at the root and/or throughout your hair (a little bit goes a long way, so apply sparingly) and voila! Instant volume. This is also pretty excellent for the ladies who hate teasing their hair, it basically does it for you. Also, it’s talc-free and great for darker shades of hair, it blends great with my bright red.
Next, MEGRHYTHM: Gentle Steam Eye Mask. Holy moly, I didn’t know I needed this on the regular until I tried it. Basically it’s a one-time use, self-heating eye mask. It’s basically a spa treatment for your eyes in a box for whenever and wherever. Pop a mask in your purse for travel or next to you bed after a long day at work or chasing around kids. Each box comes with 7 eye masks and is available in 3 soothing scents: Lavender, Citrus and Unscented. Grab them on Amazon.
Of course, we need some serious moisturizing as the temperatures begin to drop so this Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer is going to come in handy over the next couple of months. This brand was actually my grandmother’s favorite so I’m a certified O.G. longtime fan. One of my favorite things is that it’s fragrance free AND can be applied before drying off post-shower (it’s water activated!). It’s also grease-free and instantly leaves skin feeling hydrated. Additional perks: It’s dermatologist tested and received the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance™.
If you love Charcoal skincare this Mary Kay Clear Proof® Deep Cleansing Charcoal Mask is for you, especially if you get a pimple here and there. Formulated with active charcoal, mineral clay ingredients, kaolin and bentonite to boost the masks absorb-abilities to POW kick out the pore-clogging impurities. The mask also contains honeysuckle and navy bean extract to help target the appearance of skin discoloration. My favorite part is the rosemary and peppermint extracts for the spa-like scent and cooling sensation. Grab it at Marykay.com
Last, but certainly not least is the Finishing Touch: Finishing Touch Flawless facial hair remover. If you have any unwanted or unforeseen hairs on your face, this is the product for you. It’s super gentle on sensitive skin and promises no bumps, redness or irritation. Plus it has a built in light to help you locate those fine hairs. They thought of everything!
Ok, what do you think? What are you adding to your must-have list for the season?
5 Ways To Combat Dry Skin
This post is sponsored by Jergens.
If you’re a long-time TfDiaries reader you know I love Jergens moisturizers. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in a household where it was constantly stocked by my mom or if it’s the softness it gives my skin, or both, but I will always have a place for it in my beauty routine. Simple as that.
Now that summer begins to wrap up and the temperature begins to drop, it’s time to cue the creams and moisturizers to head off dry skin issues before they start. Better to be on top of it than have to deal with it later when my skin starts to feel rough and extremely dry. That being said, today I’m sharing 5 ways to combat dry skin with the help of Jergens NEW Nourishing Honey Dry Skin Moisturizer.
5 Ways To Combat Dry Skin
1. Exfoliate
First things first, LIGHTLY EXFOLIATING is essential for sloughing off dry and dead skin cells. But, don’t over do it. Opt for a light exfoliant and never rub too hard. Exfoliating also helps the skin absorb your moisturizer better, making it more effective.
2. Moisturize
Moisturizing is key when it comes to keeping your skin hydrated. For me, I try and add a moisturizer to my body post-shower to keep things feeling soft. I’m all for Jergens Nourishing Honey Moisturizer to help nourish and keep my dry skin at bay. It doesn’t hurt that their formulas are made with an illuminating HYDRALUCENCE® blend, as well as honey and orange blossom essence for keeping your skin looking softer and fresh. I’m particularly fond of the subtle, non-overpowering scent.
3. Skip The Hot Shower
One of the quickest ways to dry out your skin in the winter time is to nestle up to the heat. Sure, hot showers during the wintertime feel great after dealing with frigid temperatures but they’re quick to dry your skin out. Opt for warm (and quick) showers to avoid over-drying.
4. Pat Dry
I’ll be the first to admit that I constantly hop out of the shower in a hurry and find myself roughly drying off. As it would turn out rubbing your skin is a sure fire way to add to your dryness. Tip : Softly pat yourself dry. Sure it takes a few seconds longer but it saves you the cost of having to overcompensate later with extra moisturizer (which doesn’t work).
5. Hydrate
You’re likely loading up on coffee to stay warm but be sure that you’re also drinking at least eight - 16 oz glasses of water a day. Keeping yourself constantly hydrated helps ward off dryness. It all starts from within!
How to you fight off dry skin in the cold-weather months? Don’t forget to check out Jergens NEW Nourishing Honey Moisturizer.
Beauty Must-Have: Clarins Double Serum
This post is sponsored by Clarins. All opinions are my own.
Over the last few years I've REALLY gotten into creating skincare routines and Clarins serums aren't a new thing in my beauty cabinet. Point of fact, I've been on Team Clarins since 2014 when I first tried this serum. Since then I've been consistent with keeping a bottle in my fridge for when my skin starts to look a little tired and/or rough. Naturally, when Clarins asked me to try their new Double Serum ($84/1 oz), I was definitely on board, especially since it promises to be their most powerful age control concentrate serum ever. It revives radiance, visibly reduces wrinkles, pores, and fine lines; while hydrating and smoothing. When you're pushing 30 with 3 kids this sounds like a dream, especially with an infant in tow.
Sure, I may be sleeping through the night these days, but that doesn't mean I'm not tired. Juggling three kids during the summer is grounds for some serious skin care interventions, so I got right to work using the serum every night. For me, I had to start slow because my temperamental skin likes to act out when I try something new. So far so good, and honestly after a couple of uses my skin already feels and looks different. Tip: don't forget application on your neck. It needs just as much TLC as your face, if not more.
The new Double Serum is powered by 20+1 plant extracts including turmeric. Aside from the 'daily spa treatment' in the bottle I'm loving the dial on the application pump. You can customize the amount of serum being pumped out from the double chamber depending on the climate, your skin's needs, and the season. I've been using the tiny drop because it's summer and I have combination skin but the second the dry, cold air begins, I'm clicking over the dial to the power shot. A little bit goes a long way, so one pump is really all you need, thus extending the life of your bottle of gold, or at least that's what I call it.
Use it with your usual beauty suspects or some of Clarins' suggestions here. Honestly guys, aside from SPF, if there's one splurge-worthy product you need in your beauty cabinet it's this. You and your skin will thank me later. Xo.

3 Skincare Essentials To Try This Spring
With spring in full bloom comes the need to change up your beauty routine. Now that the issues we have to deal with in winter are gone, it's time to focus on fresh, spring skin. That means more lightweight options and if you weren't wearing SPF during the winter (which you should be), it's now time to make sure it's in your daily regimen. Don't worry, I have you covered with a little help from Tree Hut. You might recognize the name from a ways back when I fell in love with their moisturizing shave oil, here. Honestly, there was no way I wasn't going to love their skincare products, because I can't live without the shave gel - never going back to cream, ever!
Anyways, back to skincare and the essentials for the season. Tree Hut sent over 6 skincare options that were tough to narrow down, but I think these three will win you over too, and make themselves regulars in your skincare routine - especially as the season kicks off.
First off, you need a good cleanser, always. This Purifying Gel Cleanser (available at Ulta) is great. No crazy frills attached - just a good, lathering cleanser with a light rose scent. It's non-drying and leaves my skin feeling clean. I'm guessing we can chalk that upto the rosewater and other hydrating ingredients. If you love rosewater in your beauty products, this is a win. I love it. Like other Tree Hut products, it's sans parabens, phthalates, and sulfates, so you can rest assured that you're getting lots of natural botanicals. I want to add that as someone who suffers from acne prone skin- especially during this pregnancy-it definitely kept things clear and didn't trigger any breakouts from switching cleansers, so that was an added bonus.
Next, a daytime moisturizer with SPF. I know a lot of people like to keep their moisturizer and SPF separate, but I don't always love the feeling of having a pile of products on my face when I start the day. The Protecting Daily Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 30 (available at Ulta) is ideal if you're like me and want one product for the job. It's super lightweight and absorbs quickly without the greasy residue. I actually forgot primer after application the other day and I was pleasantly surprised at how well my makeup glided on and stayed on for the day - so it's definitely skip-primer-worthy.
Last but not least, a hydrating overnight mask. If there's one product I can't live without aside from a good toner, is an overnight mask. During the day your skin goes through the wringer: whether it's sun exposure, city pollution, a night out on the town, or all the above; you need a little TLC when you hit your pillow at night. Enter, the Hydrating Overnight Mask in Soothing Chamomile (available at Ulta). Cleanse your skin and apply a light layer of the lightweight gel mask to your skin and voila! You're bedtime ready and giving your skin the attention it needs. No need to wash it off, it dries pretty quickly so you can go straight to bed without the worry of transferring it on to your pillow, or the sticky feel of leaving something on your face overnight. Just wash your face in the morning. Out of all the products this is definitely hands-down my favorite. I use it 2-3 times a week and it lives on my headboard/night stand for easy access so I don't miss a treatment.
What are your spring skincare essentials? Have you tried any of these Tree Hut products?

3 Skincare Routine Essentials Under $100
Now that 30 has officially arrived and I'm starting to see the first signs of aging I've gotten way more serious about my skincare routine than I previously was. Not, that I was slacking I just wasn't using a handful of products every morning and night. Now, it's about fine tuning my routine to things that I actually need at this point like, hyaluronic acid and glycolic acid. I'm basically obsessed with all things glycolic, it's the only thing that keeps breakouts at bay on my troublesome skin (especially during pregnancy; yes it's pregnancy safe). Hyaluronic is great for hydrating my skin, particularly in the wintertime. Personally I look for those ingredients paired with more natural ingredients and sans parabens and synthetics. Most recently I was introduced and immediately became obsessed with the M-61 skincare line. It is amazing. While it's nearly impossible to play favorites I was able to narrow it down to three essentials that I officially can't live without. All are under $100 and can be shopped at BlueMercury.

In Review: Silk'n ReVit + Giveaway
In a nutshell it's designed to help diminish the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles, dull skin an age spots using vacuum stimulation technology paired with a diamond abrasion tip to mildly exfoliate. Skipping out on in-office treatments has never looked so good and I can do it from the comfort of my home, in my pajamas if I please. Each session usually takes 10-15 minutes and is extremely user friendly. I was a little nervous at first about putting it on my extremely sensitive skin but it was quickly put to rest after I gave it a shot. The key is to take your time and be gentle, remember your skin should be treated like a baby at all times.
The ReVit can be used to treat common problem areas like your forehead, cheeks, neck, around the eyes and nose. It can even be used on hands, which also often goes neglected. I personally love it on my nose because {tmi alert} it sucks up whatever blackheads are brewing. It's like instant gratification.
I've been using the device every 2-3 days for about a month now and have noticed my skin appears bright, smoother and my pores have shrunken quite a bit. I'm definitely sold, and the $99 price tag has me stocking up on Christmas gifts for my friends and family. It's never too soon, right?
I knew you'd agree, which is why I'm teaming up with Silk'n to give one lucky reader a chance to try it out for themselves. {Enter Below}

Beauty Under $5
Beauty doesn't always have to be splurge, some of the best beauty product I own were actually $10 or under. And I know most of us love perusing the beauty aisle while we're strolling around our achilles heel (aka Target), how can we not be tempted to just 'look'. Well I've rounded up some of my favorite finds $5 and under for those days where we just have to get something without ringing up our bill to $200..
NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil, $4.49
One swipe application for lasting color, perfect for on the go and storing in your purse!
I love these colors, they not only have great hues and dry super quick but they make me nostalgic for NYC
Polka Dots in a bottle? Enough said...
This color for summer, yes please! Another store in your purse favorite.
Love these, and they're perfect for travel or that 'overnighter'...
More middle school nostalgia, and they feel great! Grab a few 'flavors' for Girls Night In...
Matchstick, ombre, emory boards - so cute! Perfect for gifting...
Another summer purse essential.
Bobby Pins, $1 .89
Raise your hand if you have a million of these in unknown areas of your house, car and purses. I recently just found a handful in a jacket pocket, and I'm embarrassed to say I sometimes 'find' them in my hair during washes, missed one, oops.
In Review : Neutrogena Naturals
Last week I received a box filled with eco friendly goodies, including a handful of the new Neutrogena Naturals products that I've been dying to try. Along with the skincare, I received bamboo Crate and Barrel kitchen accessories, a filtered water bottle and some interesting organic/raw bars in a fabulous tote. The new wooden spatulas immediately came in handy for frosting the baby's first birthday cake and I couldn't of been happier.
And since I've been using all things Neutrogena for the last 4 or 5 years, it was definitely something that was easy to incorporate into my daily routine. I dove right in starting with the purifying pore scrub, it was light and unlike most scrubs not gritty, which was fantastic because I have super sensitive skin. After rinsing it left my skin super soft and moisturized. I definitely plan adding this to my weekly regime...
Next on the favorites list was the Multi Vitamin Night Cream, it was heavier than the daily Multi Vitamin Moisturizer, but wasn't greasy like most night creams. I applied about a pea sized amount to my face and neck, which was amazing, I woke up and my face still felt smooth, but not oily, which is a major plus. And since a little bit goes a long way, it's going to last quite awhile.
Another noteworthy product was a the Purifying Facial Cleanser, which was difficult to get used to at first, mainly because my face didn't feel clean, almost oily, but after I noticed my skin seemed clearer and less red, I immediately started using everyday.
All in all, I'm liking the new naturals selections and look forward to replacing my 'normal' Neutrogena cleansers and moisturizers with them in the future.

DIY: Lemon Olive Oil Mask
I stumbled upon this amazing Lemon Olive Oil Mask DIY on TotalBeauty.com the other night. Turns out it's the perfect pick me up before you head out on the town for all those holiday parties. Here's the scoop, the olive oil moisturizes (which we all need in this weather), the lemon brightens as well helps out those troublesome blackheads and blemishes, oatmeal treats blotches and the egg whites tighten your skin. Though olive oil is best for dry skin (and has been known to treat acne), the combination of ingredients is great for normal, combination, oily and acne prone skin. All the benefits of a facial straight from your kitchen.

Earth Science Review
My Mother-in-Law brought me some Earth Science products on her recent visit for us to test out. So I figured why not do a review of my fabulous newly acquired products. Earth Science is a remarkable budget and earth friendly line of skin and hair care products formulated to nourish, protect and rejuvenate while preventing the damaging effects of sun, environment and time. Earth Science products are made with high quality organic ingredients such as sea kelp, ginko biloba, green tea and papaya enzymes and more. And can be found online at their website or at any Whole Foods Market (or natural food stores).
The first product I tested was the Mint Tingle Purifying Mask which runs for $7.99. Ok it's blue, but don't let that scare you off. When you put it on it literally tingles and feels absolutely refreshing. My only issue is it dries fast and if you have any dry skin patches, blemishes or large pores it's extremely hard to get the blue off. I recommend a warm or cool wash cloth to remove the mask. After I got the mask off I felt cool, clean and refreshed. I have 'trouble' skin and it gets red every now and again, after the mask it was a lot clearer.
With my sweet blue face....maybe a new look?
The last product was the Papaya Glycolic Gentle Skin Peel ($11.99), which is gentle enough for sensitive skin types. The smell is potent because the use of thyme and the texture is a little 'chunky'. This also dries extremely fast and I again recommend removing it with a damp washcloth. It's a lot more difficult to get off once it dries because of the 'harder' ingredient such as the thyme. So I'd wash it off just before it hardens. As far as after goes It gives your skin a soft, clean feel. Again I noticed a difference in my skin's clarity, and would highly recommend this product.
I'm looking forward to trying more of Earth Science's products in the near future...
