Beauty Must-Haves: Viviscal Extra Strength

30 October 2015

Last month I shared my top 5 tips to healthier hair, including one of my newest must-haves, Viviscal® Extra-Strength. Since then, I chopped off some of my fiery locks - about an inch or two. But, because I've continued taking Viviscal® I've noticed that my hair is still growing pretty rapidly, which has me at the salon touching up my lovely roots every two weeks - the only downside. I'm not complaining, especially since my thin hair is fuller than it's ever been {my stylist agrees} - which means I've moved past wrapping my pony tail 4 times and only have to do it twice now. Goals.

Just in case you're new to Viviscal® and missed last month's post. Viviscal® is a drug-free, hair growth supplement that is scientifically formulated with marine complex AminoMar™ as well as a blend of nutrients including Biotin, Vitamin C, Zinc, Iron and Millet Seed Extract to nourish thinning hair and promote hair growth. Plus, they've been backed by 25 years of research and development. So, if you're looking to add a little volume boost or need a little extra help in the hair growth department I would highly recommend giving these a shot - I pretty much swear by it now.

Ps. There's only 24 hours left to enter the Viviscal® 25 Year Giveaway, go enter for your chance to win a lifetime's supply of Viviscal® Extra Strength.

Fall Essential: The Suede Shift

29 October 2015

If there was one thing that was missing in my closet this season to bring my 70's inspired style to life, it was definitely the suede lace up shift dress. You can't go bohemian without a lacing something up. Right? This one from Boohoo happened to be the perfect fit. It's out of my usual comfort zone as far as color and fit goes but I can't resist how the blue pops with my hair and brown accessories.

At this point it's impossible to play favorites with my other boohoo (fall arrivals) - Which is your favorite? This dress, the fringe skirt or the floral swing dress?

Fall Essential: The Oversized Anorak

28 October 2015

I've been on the hunt for a good anorak {parka} jacket for some time now. I wanted something I that I could easily throw on over jeans and a t-shirt and still feel put together, but still have the durability of trekking through crappy weather without having to worry about getting it 'dirty'. Which is probably why I finally found myself with this Chicwish version. It's has some heft and is slightly reminiscent of Lindsey Weir's jacket from Freaks and Geeks (and possibly John Cusack in Say Anything). Something I'm totally ok with, I think. Like imagined it was perfect thrown over a simple white tee, skinnies and classic tan booties.  All that's missing is James Franco and Seth Rogen..

Fall Beauty Essential: Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Spray Moisturizer

27 October 2015

With autumn in full swing, my bare leg days this year are numbered. The weather has shifted to colder temperatures, and brought the dread days of dry, dehydrated skin. Like most people, I tend to spend extra attention on my face keeping it looking fresh after the temperatures start to drop, but what about the other parts of my body that need some extra TLC like my arms, hands and legs? They are out of sight, and it's easy to let them go out of mind when it comes to grabbing the lotions and applying, but is that really an excuse? Definitely not.

Fortunately, The Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair {unscented} Spray Moisturizer is here to save the day. Vaseline's newest contender, just hit shelves offering 2x more moisturizers to help heal very dry skin within seconds.  The non-greasy, light formula with micro-droplets of Vaseline jelly sprays on smooth and dries almost instantly - thus no rubbing in or waiting around to for your lotion to dry required.

Kind of awesome? I think yes. Whether I'm spraying it on for my last days of tight and boot free style or before bed, I'm likely to make it out of fall and winter unscathed.

6 Fall Essentials from the Redbook Beauty Box

26 October 2015

I’m always on the hunt for new beauty products to try and share with you guys, which is probably why my beauty cabinet is always over capacity with all things hair, makeup and skincare. It’s a problem, but I’ll happily take one for the team. So, this month Redbook sent over their first ever, Beauty Red Box for me to try out some of the fall and winter-ready products before things really start to get cold. Here’s what I think, and which ones are now on my favorite’s list...

Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant - The Invisible solid glides on effortlessly and stays dry all day - even after I took a vigorous speed walk {borderline sprint} to make it to a breakfast I was 20 minutes late for. The scent is light, but still lives up to Secret’s best deodorant scents standard (am I the only one who can’t resist their scents?).

Vaseline Serum Advanced Relief - This one isn’t new to my roster {full review here, it is my favorite of the three}, but I definitely will need it in stock come winter, especially with it’s extra healing, moisturizing benefits. My skin thanks me now and later.

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant - Since my skin still battles breakouts from time to time, having a good defense system in the queue doesn’t hurt. I’m completely new to anything Paula’s Choice, but I’m officially won over with this liquid exfoliator. It’s great for fine lines, building collagen and clearing up those nasty clogged pores - you can thank the 2% BHA for that. It also has green tea extract and soothing ingredients to reduce redness and irritation. I personally cannot use it more than 2 times a week because my sensitive skin gets a little dehydrated with too much salicylic acid use.

Sally Hanson Complete Salon Manicure - If you haven’t tried these yet, you need to. These selects have great staying power especially with the addition of the Gel Shine 3D Top Coat {which by the way is my new favorite for at home manicures}, which transforms regular polish into a gel-like shine without the UV light. Win.

On my nails:
Poof! Be-gonia (Orange, and perfect for Halloween!)

Twice a month we're going to feature some of our favorite trends. First up: fringe! Quick & Easy Halloween Entertaining Ideas

22 October 2015

halloween entertaining, halloween party ideas, halloween party recipes, halloween cocktails, halloween recipes, halloween drinks, halloween decor
Guys, It's 9 days until Halloween. Are you ready? I definitely am. Since parties aren't going to fly at our place any longer (thanks tiny apartment), I figured I'd find another way to celebrate one of my favorite holidays in the form of a spooky movie night. Ok, not too spooky. I don't do horror anymore - you can thank "The Strangers" for that - David and I literally stopped sleeping with our windows open and haven't watched horror film since- that was 7 years ago. So, quirky halloween films it is.

Sprucing up the space to go along with the theme was a must, so we popped into Spirit Halloween for some awesome and reasonable last minute decor options. I'm pretty sure I walked out with a giant bag without breaking $40. Also, they have a pretty sweet selection on costumes - if you're like me and are still looking for one.

No movie night is complete without snacks - So I used the party favor boxes for individual servings of treats: Wasabi Seaweed, Pirate's Booty and G.H Cretors Limited Edition Double Chocolate Caramel Popcorn.

As for the sips, the Spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate was a huge hit {recipe below}.

Shop the decor:

Dia De Los Muertos Spicy Hot Chocolate

3 1/2 Cups Milk
4 Heaping Tbsp. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 Tsp. Cinnamon
1-2 Dashes of Cayenne
1/2 Tsp. Ground Ginger
1/2 Tsp. Nutmeg
2-3 Tbsp. Coconut Sugar (or sweetener of choice)
Whipped Cream & Chocolate Syrup to top

{optional}
1 oz. vodka

3 Ways To Wear Chelsea Boots

When it comes to Fall footwear it's no secret that I love a good boot {or selection of boots, really}. We already know that my love for Zappos runs deep thanks to their selection and return policy, so shopping my fall essentials and snagging 1-day free shipping is a complete no-brainer, if you ask me.

So, when Zappos asked me to pick out a pair of Clarks boots from their new Fall collection there was no contest when I spotted the Pita Sedona {chelsea boot}. Classic, sleek and under $150 - yes, please.  How was I missing these from my closet? At this point, everyone and their mother has a Chelsea Boot, they've become a fashion girl closet-essential. If you don't have a pair, I HIGHLY recommend these. They're ridiculously comfortable and add instant style with a slip of the foot. Wear them with boyfriend jeans, your favorite skinnies and even tights. Since the possibilities seem endless I'm making it easy for you and styled mine 3 different weekend-ready ways. Ideal for apple picking, checking out the changing leaves in the park, and even a day of shopping.

1. Boyfriend Jeans and a Moto Jacket

2. Tights & Layers

3. Poncho and Skinny Black Jeans

Halloween-Inspired Beauty Potions

21 October 2015

This post is sponsored by Target.
As Halloween and cold weather rapidly approach, I thought it was about time to spice up my beauty routine in favor of something a little different than the usual coconut-oil-for-everything route. So, in honor of my favorite spooky holiday, I’m teaming up with Target this month to share my favorite beauty potions that even the most powerful sorceress will envy. So, pull out your cauldron and gather your viper venom and dandelion oil for some seriously good skincare concoctions straight from the Target beauty aisle. Because Halloween shouldn’t stop at flawless makeup, am I right?

Time Balm Skincare White Tea Dandelion Skin Brightening Moisturizer: Infused with vitamin C, dandelion, and ginkgo biloba extract to brighten skin and leave it glowing with subtle light reflectors.

Aura Cacia Nurturing Sweet Almond Skin Care Oil: Like the benefits of eating almonds, almond oil can be used to keep breakouts at bay, leaving your skin smooth and flawless. It also can be used for cleansing your face, as a massage oil, and even as a hair conditioner. PS: It’s also great for dark circles and eczema.

Nip+Fab Skin Viper Venom Eye Fix: Concocted with Syn-Ake (inspired by the venom of the temple viper), Liftonin, and red algae to smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as reduce the appearance of dark circles.
What are you mixing in your cauldron this fall?
