The Golden Maxi

30 June 2015

Ok, there's no shortage of maxi dresses in my closet so you're no surprised that I brought home another one. Now, this one I'm still on the fence with it but so far (the whole one whopping wear I've gotten out of it} it seems ok. I think it might blend a little too much with the hair...

Do we love it or hate it?

Summer Essential: The Fun Jumpsuit

29 June 2015

When it comes to summer dressing I have a weakness for a pieces with movement and flow. There's just something bout walking down the sidewalk and watching your fabric flow with you. It's beautiful.

So, once the sun comes out I find myself leaning towards floaty dresses, skirts and most recently this Aryn K jumpsuit. THIS JUMPSUIT GUYS. Truth be told I was a little nervous when I first tried it on, but after a few additions in the accessories department I've quickly fallen in love with it. It's effortless, and it has the flow, in the best possible way. Immediately making it a summer essential...

Cashmere and Lace

26 June 2015

I know what you're thinking, cashmere in the summer, really? Yeah, me too. But, a couple weeks back we had a cold snap and we're in the 60's which meant I clearly needed to bring out the cashmere sweater one last time before parting with it for the next several months. It was a sign and I went for it. I'm not going to lie, I adore it with this lace pencil skirt - which by the way turns out goes with just about everything.

For The Home: Remodo

25 June 2015

Since our home decor re-hash kicked off I've been looking for a fun pair of pillows to spice up our couch. There's just something about our grey couch against the bright wall that just isn't doing it for me. {Don't tell David!} I love the wall but the couch just might not be the best fit, so for now, spicing things up with fun prints and color doesn't hurt. When I found remodo, who is killing it the boxed bedrooms department by the way (seriously guys, they're awesome), I knew I stumbled on something great. I'm obsessed with their prints, textures and colors. They even have boxed gallery walls, which is nothing short of genius if you ask me - Hey remodo, I want one!

Anyhow, I was most inspired by the B&W II Pillows and knew they would do the job, and then some. I love the subtle print with the classic color scheme especially paired with our bold throw. One project down, only {what seems like} 100 more.

Rainbow Stripes

24 June 2015

While I wouldn't say this isn't my favorite outfit I will definitely say there is no shortage in color. I actually have been off and on with the wearability of this dress, while I love love the colors and playful nature of the dress I've found it's kind of tricky to pair in the shoe department.  For now these sandals fit the bill.

Loose Side Braid & Waves

23 June 2015

When it comes to summer hair I like to stretch the time between washes as often and for as long as possible. So, naturally I rely on certain styles to help me maintain that and braids find themselves at the top of the list. I am partial to a side braid with loose waves. for two reasons. One, it hides my 'problem area' (aka greasy bangs); and two, it is ridiculously easy to create.  A simple, fun twist on a summer classic.

So,  this week I've teamed up with Suave to share with you how I create my summer go to hairstyle in as little as three to four steps, check it out!

Summer Side Braid & Loose Waves

2. Next, grab a few pieces at the top of your head, separate and start to braid. Continue adding pieces to the braid from the sides all the way down. Pin back.

3. Loosely pull at the outer braid pieces to give them more volume and texture.

4. Give your hair a once over with a 1" styling wand for loose, undone waves.

Voila! A fabulous side braid paired with loose waves to make stretching your hair a day or two longer look fabulous.

You Better Bow-lieve It

22 June 2015

I've been holding on to this Zac Posen for Target dress for what seems like ages. It's been hanging patiently in my closet since I snapped it up after finding it on super sale for $18 bucks,  after all the post launch hype died down. So, when I was trying to figure out what to wear to Belmont last week this beauty came to mind before I walked out in something else. I literally ran over, ripped off the tags (yep, they were still on there!) and threw it on with my new Shoes of Prey heels. It was a perfect match. Brocade, a giant bow and color? Yes, please. I almost want to re-wear it over and over again, reliving the perfection.

Now, these heels ladies, I'm in love. I highly suggest you design a pair for yourself either at any of the Nordstrom Pop Shops or online. There's over a million different ways to come up with your own one of a kind, be it an over the top creation or something a little more classic without breaking the bank. Obviously you get major bragging rights once you step out in your design (after your receive it in about 4 weeks)...

A Day At The Races

19 June 2015

Over the weekend you probably caught a glimpse of Jackie and myself dolled up for a day at the races at Belmont Park with America's Best Racing. I personally had never been to a horse race before so it was definitely a culture shock, in the best possible way. We got to tour the paddock, meet the horses and sip margaritas as we tried our hand at betting. Turns out betting isn't my strong point, but it was sure as hell fun trying. I even left the park with a new nickname of sorts, so I'd call it a successful day. Stay tuned I'll be sharing my look from the races next week - I think it deserves a post of it's own, don't you think? All that was missing a was a fabulous fancy hat, but I think Jackie had us both covered on that front!

Have you ever been to the races?

5 Small Space Storage Ideas

18 June 2015

While some of you aren't exactly living in tiny boxes that New Yorkers try to pass off as apartments, I'm sure that at some point or another, possibly now, you've struggled with storage options. I personally struggle with it every-freaking-day. While I'd love to blame my job for my lack of storage issues, my tendency to hold on to just about everything started way before fashion was in my vocabulary. Lucky for me, I've found a few sure-fire ways to keep your space looking fresh and clutter free - without having to drop a boatload of money on options.

1. Command Hooks for Jewelry
Granted they're not the prettiest of options {they do have silver, which is nice} but they're cheap and they do the job. Mine live behind my headboard, so they're hidden from plain sight but easy to access. They're also great in closets. Plus at $5 for a pack of 6-8, you can stock up. Also, great for belt and small bag storage!

2. Hang Your Accessories
This actually isn't the first time I've talked about hanging accessories in plain view {see it here too}. Two of my personal favorites have to be 1.) Hanging my hats on the wall, as part of your gallery wall for easy access and 2.) Using decorated knobs to hold my most used handbags.  Make sure you keep it simple and don't let it get too cluttered.

3. Back to Front Storage with Shoes
I'm a little {or way} behind on this one, so if you already knew this - you're awesome! So pretty much you store your shoes with one pointing in and one pointing out. It doubles the amount of space for storage. I accidentally placed a pair like this and immediately flipped all of them after loving the results. Lord knows I need all the help I can get when it comes to shoe storage. Seriously.

4. Storage ottomans & under the bed storage.
When I'm bringing a new piece of furniture into our apartment I have to ask myself if it's going to take up too much space and if it's going to double as a storage solution. It's only practical. Storage ottomans and benches are great, I got this bench from HomeGoods a couple of years ago for just under $100 and it's been a "lifesaver" for bedsheets, scarves, old photos and jewelry. Plus it fits perfectly under our window making it a great reading nook. As for under the bed storage, it's pretty much key, there's all that unused space going to waste. We recently bought a bed that had storage included and it has been amazing. I have two enormous drawers on my side, one for my overwhelming skirt collection and one to organize my handbags and belts. We opted for the headboard for extra storage on the sides and I think we paid a total of $400 for the entire thing at Ikea. Not in the market for a new bed? There's plenty of reasonably prices under the bed storage options out there.

5. Shoe boxes for underwear & socks.
No seriously, why spend $10-20 bucks on drawer organizers when you can make one yourself? Take old shoe boxes (all around the same height) and place them in your drawers to organize your bras, undies, socks and workout gear. Honestly it makes a huge difference, my drawer is no longer overflowing and now I don't have to issue a drawer-wide search to find a freaking bra.
