Personalizing Wedding (Registry) Gift Ideas

31 December 2013

With the holidays just barely behind us, wedding invitations have begun to go out, making special stops into our mailboxes. Now, while I'm entirely up for the excitement, my wallet, not so much. Yes, registries are great but unless you're buying the top tier item (ie: Keurigs, Kitchenaid mixers & food processors), you might be feeling like you're lacking in a few places. Thus the need for a little personalization without breaking the bank. So, I teamed up with Target to create a personalized wedding gift right off one of my girlfriend's registry who's husband happens to love Coffee.

Since they opted for a French Press (under $40), I grabbed a couple mugs and canisters to add a little something special to the gift. Now, since I know they love their Starbucks, I threw in a couple bags of the newest flavors and some biscotti for dipping. Arranged it in a pretty basket and it's an easy yet fun gift to give while staying true to the registry, and not breaking the bank.

Need help personalizing something special for upcoming nuptials? Here's some tips to make things a little easier...

- Opt for practical items like Wine Glasses or Coffee Mugs.
Adds Ons - their favorite wine or specialty coffees.

 - Or try Bakeware.
Add Ons - Cute Muffin Liners & Homemade Mixes (cookies, brownies) in Jars.

- You can even take a fun picture frame and attach it to the gift wrap as a gift tag. Play with ideas, and have fun!

- And then there's engraving if you've run out of ideas.

How do you personalize wedding gifts?

Downtown Girl

30 December 2013

Since I'm sure you can imagine, I have had a hard time not wearing this skirt, everyday.  If it weren't so darn cold out I'd probably would, you know, until I got sick of seeing it (which would be never). Lucky for me we've had a few bouts of 60 degree weather in the last week which means it's practically spring time, giving me yet another chance to throw on my skirt. This time around with a (perfectly appropriate) graphic tee and leather details jacket with just a pop of color coming from my shoes.

This Week...

28 December 2013

It's been quite awhile since This Week has made it up (thanks to moving and the holidays), so it's time to get back in the swing of things. I'm hoping everyone's holiday has been delightful and eventful thus far. Since things have been low key in these parts, mainly because of a nasty cold, I only managed to do a little shopping post holidays and touch up a few new items in the apartment (see the sneak peek here).

Also,  It would seem I'm having a winter floral moment.
Silk'n Flash&Go tops the list of things to try in the new year, stay tuned!
G.H Cretors sent over some popcorn for the holidays, and I'm hooked (needless to say the four bags barely lasted the weekend). The chicago mix is the right about of sweet and salty. And it's non-gmo & gluten free... (don't forget to like them on Facebook!)
An Outfit that didn't quite make the cut this week...
Happy Weekend!

A Peek Into Our Apartment

26 December 2013

Since I've been spending the last several weeks unpacking, organizing and trying to get our new place in order I figured it would only be fair to give you a peek on the progress since I've mostly been MIA elsewhere. So since our bedroom is the only room mostly put together (aside from the boys room), I snapped off a few pictures to share. I can't wait to hear what you think...

The Right Fit

25 December 2013

Secretly I consider my self a jean girl at heart. Years ago I was all about pairing my trusty denim with just about everything. And while these days the stylings are not as often as I'd like, I always feel most comfortable when I slip on that pair of jeans with just the right fit.

So, when Abercrombie asked me to pick to test out their fabulous denim (at amazing prices, hello jeans under $40), who was I to say no? Now, of course I had to narrow down my choices from their expansive fit and wash range, finally deciding on a low rise skinny (a size-ish too big for a boyfriend, lived in feel) with just enough distressing. Fit wise, I have to applaud the back pocket placement for optimal butt shaping, because, let's be real that's one of our main factors when buying jeans, am I right?

Lucky for me the weather has been a little on the warmer side and I didn't have to completely layer up, limiting my layers to a metallic infused jacket and tank to help my jeans steal the show. Of course, details had to include a couple more pops of color and a feminine detail here and there to make it just right...

Tribal and Leopard

23 December 2013

I've always been partial to outerwear. It's no secret that I have a love for layering and that love probably started with my strong feelings towards playful outwear. This jacket, more or less says it all, it some how fit perfectly with this (bold) dress and these amazingly comfortable boots, giving me exactl what I want, an outfit that pops in the winter time. Throw on an oversized scarf for good measure and I'm out the door...

Tutu Tulle

20 December 2013

When it comes to Whimsical, it doesn't get more whimsey than tulle. Am I right? So for this week's (and final) trend with U By Kotex we're going all out whimsical, and it seems tulle was just the only way to go..

And since I can never get enough of the floaty romantic fabric there was no way I was passing up this gorgeous skirt (from Lily and Voilet), the perfect length and just the right amount of swing. While I'm all about going full on ballerina on a given day I decided to add a touch of edge to my look with my studded (faux) leather moto jacket. Hello, structure and swing, just a couple of my favorite things.

So get out there this week, snap a picture of you going whimsical for a chance to win a trip to NYC (see more details below)...

Quick Gifts for The Hostess Under $50, At Marshalls

19 December 2013

It's really no secret that I spend all too much time at Marshalls, I'd blame Project Fab, but that would only account for half of my (so called) "problem". Of course, I get great deals on clothes, most of my fall wardrobe additions have come from the racks but really the real kicker is their housewares department (and furniture, eep!). Before we moved I stocked up on all things needed for the home, from the kitchen and bathroom to the living room and bedroom, and much cheaper than I would've paid at my other favorite weakness. It's like magic.

So, of course I had to pop in yesterday afternoon for a quick peak (and do some last minute gift shopping) to see what I could get for (well) under $50 for The Hostess in my life...
 Martini Set $19.99, Cup & Saucer $5.99, & Driftwood Candle Votive  $39.99.
Gourmet Cookie Mix $4, Espresso Pot $5.99, Baskets $12.99, and Designer Gloves $29.99.

What have to snagged from Marshalls lately? Dish..

Pants and Tweed

18 December 2013

Since I've been sticking to pants lately to help brace the cold I've had to spice up my outwear just a smidge. Lucky for me it wasn't too cold and I was able to get away with this metallic infused tweed jacket. Not my favorite look, but it did the trick for errands after the snow.
