Adding The Leopard

31 July 2013

Since this combination turned out so well I couldn't resist bringing my leopard skirt into the mix for a plaid & neon pairing. Full of color and print, and surprisingly comfortable.

Spot The Steal: Dolce Vita Archer

30 July 2013

I've been a big fan of the Archer since it came out a couple years ago, the idea of metallic details on a simple (or not so simple) sandals gets me excited about wearing flats, and that's a big feat. And while they're not as expensive as they used to be it's always nice to find a spot on steal, like this one from Debshops for $11! I'll take both colors please...

What do you think?

Win The Zoya Suboo Trio

With MBFWSwim in the past, I thought it was about time to share some of the goodies that were acquired over the weekend, starting with the now sold out, Zoya Suboo MBFW Nail Trio. The set includes Haley, Purity and Song in an adorable white gift box, and originally went for $24 before quickly selling out over the weekend.

I was lucky enough to snag two gift bags while at the show, and David has so kindly decided to share his set with you!

how to wear denim shorts
Switching out a simple tee for a frilly, printed blouse has got to be one of the easiest ways to dress up my denim cut off shorts, aside from my favorite blazer combination (though it's been a little warm for that lately, is it fall yet?). Of course adding a pop of color in the form of simple strappy heels helps the situation, making this perfect summer attire.

Lemon Lime Bars With Honey

28 July 2013

sugar free lemon bars
I have strong feelings towards lemon bars, they're zesty, sweet and have a bit of crunch to go with the powerful lemon flavor. I probably could eat them just about everyday, and in fact actually did so all this week (shh...). And while I love my other recipe for straight lemon bars, I thought it was time to try something new. So I played around with ideas for a moment and wanted to see what substituting the sugar with honey would do, and how the crust would taste with coconut oil instead of butter. Turns out, amazing. The crust is a little more crunchy, which I love and the honey adds the right amount of sweet while playing off the tart flavors of the lemon and lime. You have to try them! And while I may have overcooked them a little, thanks to the distraction of two wild toddlers, they still tasted incredible.

Lemon Lime Bars With Coconut Oil Crust

Crust
1 1/2 cups  flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tbsp lemon zest
1/2 tbsp. lime zest
1/3 cup coconut oil, room temp.

Filling
4 large eggs
1 1/3 cups honey
1 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed and strained
Preheat oven to 350˚F and line 13×9-inch baking pan with aluminum foil.
Start by making the crust.  In a large bowl, mix  flour, sugar, salt and lemon zest. Add coconut oil to flour mixture and blend with an electric mixer at low speed until mixture is crumbly.
Pour into pan and press mixture down with your fingers to form even layer.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until just lightly browned around the edges. For the filling, whisk together eggs, honey and lemon juice in a large bowl.
When the crust comes out of the oven and is still hot, pour in filling mixture.
Bake for about 20 minutes, or until filling is set and does not jiggle when the pan is gently shaken.

Let cool completely before cutting. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar and serve.

This Week...

27 July 2013

After a whirlwind weekend in Miami, it was tough getting back into the swing of things come Monday. Lucky for me I got to relive some of experiences through posts throughout the week, my favorite was Mara Hoffman's show of course. I also was pretty excited to meet Glossybox Ceo, Elian Pres-Gurwits, backstage at Suboo. He's so sweet and passionate about the box.
Also I had to start this week of with some serious baking,  here's a sneak peek at tomorrow's post..
Can you guess what it's going to be?
I'm especially excited about this amazing book from Schiffer Publishing, the SFP Lookbook has all the looks from the F/W 2013 Runways - It's going to be my inspiration go to all season long...
What'd you do this week? Xo.

SobeYou In South Beach

Last weekend David and I were invited to stay at the adorable, hidden gem, SobeYou Tropical Bed and Breakfast for our MBFWSwim trip. Nestled in the heart of the art deco district, SobeYou walking distance from just about everything from South Beach to Lincoln Rd, but just far enough away to have some peace and quiet (which we were craving...).

After running a little late we finally arrived and were greeted with snack and refreshments, and introduced to our amazing suite, a room that I had trouble leaving all weekend. Equipped with two walk in closets, a fully stocked mini fridge, a cozy bathroom and an extra room (perfect for the boys when we return).

The quaint 10 room Inn, built in the 1800's still carried the original deco frame work all the way down to the doors and door knobs. I kind of died a little bit, it's flawless.

We moseyed out to the pool before heading over to The Raleigh for the shows, and had to resist the urge to get lost lounging by the tropically set pool area. Though we briefly returned before cozying up into our room after the events. Breakfast was lovely the next morning, we were served fresh fruit, omelettes and toast. The breakfast area also had a bar with cereals, oatmeal and cakes, if you weren't entirely filled up from round one.
Aside from our amazing room, I'm going to have to say that the dedicated staff really made our stay, you can tell they each love being part of SobeYou. Would I recommend staying? Absolutely, I will never stay anywhere else when we come down this way...
(We're already planning another trip..)
disclosure: we were given accommodations at SoBeYou, all opinions are 100% my own

Wellington Weather & Win A Pair from Joules

26 July 2013

This time a year here in Florida we get a lot of rain, it's safe to say when the afternoon hits we get a shower, or two. And while I love to cool off in the rain, it's not so easy to pick footwear that goes hand in hand with Florida showers. However, when Joules reached out and asked if I'd like a pair of wellies to help weather the storm how could I not? And while I went for a classic black pair, I felt it stood out with it's dainty back bow

And while it only sprinkled before taking these, I have found that this pairing is somewhat of a uniform for when it rains, though I forgot my leopard umbrella. Cozy, and just enough layers to stay dry...

Now, if you're in need of a nice pair of wellies for the ongoing summer showers or you're getting ready for fall, enter to win the pair of your choice below!

The Coverup

25 July 2013

Ok, I'll admit I'm not one for posting my beach wear on the blog, mainly because it usually includes a tee and cut offs or a floaty dress sans shoes. It's bohemian, but the less than fashionable type. However, when I got this cover up and suit it kind of added a little pep to my step. I mean, they match and it's super adorable (I can even deal with the hi-low hemline). Now, I'm almost embarrassed to say I've been wearing it almost everyday since receiving last week to take with me to MBFWSwim.

And since I'm guilty of wearing my swimsuit for the last few days I thought I'd skip the sandals and go for the fringe boots to make it a little more street worthy (and possibly confusing for those who are spotting me in my bathing suit...)

Stripes and Spots

24 July 2013

I keep forgetting I have these two pieces in my closet, and am always passing them up. Obviously something had to be done, thus this pairing, surprisingly it's almost perfect (and light enough for summer)...
